Instant Gaming, for example, has this version listed as "Ys X: Nordics (no English language)" and calls attention to this in the languages section.
CDKeys, on the other hand, doesn't do anything to make this clear in the title or description. You'd need to know to explicitly look at the languages section, something you wouldn't ever think to do on a worldwide key activation a month after the English release. This is deceptive.
I mean, when you buy from a gray market site you're going to potentially have issues.
The literal same thing just happened to me. I saw the great deal and jumped on it. Bought a key labeled as (EUROPE) and it turned out to be this version.
Any luck with refunds from Eneba? That's where I bought it as well.
They refunded it to me after 3 days
What did you tell them?
I am in a back and forth with the support at Eneba but so far they just pasted the available languages from the fine print of the item listing and said they won't refund me because the languages were on the page. I replied that the item I purchased literally had (Europe) in the name and that I'd like to get my money back. Anything else I could say to make it work?
Maybe they didn't have that info on the page when I bought it, you can try a charge back from your payment. Especially if it was credit card
Sadly I used a weird payment method that won't allow for cashback. Yeah the language info technically is there at the very bottom of the sales page, but it's clearly obfuscated and not made obvious at all. Real piece of ♥♥♥♥ tactic.
I guess I'll just press for a while longer and give up if they won't refund.
It sucks cause I was excited to play this and now it turns out I just wasted money. I don't think I'll be buying it at all it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth...
Yea it's gross the developers can't make a single version of the game with all languages, this will seriously harm the ys franchise.
You can also argue the page selling the game is in english, and the game has only chinese and korean, so the page selling the game SHOULD be in those languages. It's basically fraud what they are doing.
I think Falcom is doing just fine.
There's no fraud here. There's a giant text that says "English is not supported". It can't be more clear.
I don't see any thinking since we're talking about the eneba site. And falcom is not a franchise geeee
I mean, considering that site is already grey market and probably exists in a country with.....loose laws...
The thing is, it wasn't giant at all.
The listing only had very small mention of the limited language scope at the very bottom of the sales page and the whole thing has Europe plastered in the main places.
Yes, it technically was there and I should have scanned the page better instead of getting excited with the discount but it was clearly deceptively set up to mislead people.

The whole situation with YS localization is weird and it partly contributed to this fiasco. Had they just done a simulrelease in the first place there would be no confusion (and had they not ask 70$ for their game for whatever reason). But yeah, too bad I guess and I'll have to eat the 45 euro loss it seems.
Tell the game doesn't have japanese and they put japanese in the description, it has only chinese and korean on steam options.
That should be reason enough to get the refund anyway because their page has false information.
