Meteor survival
Well I've been hit by a meteor about five times which results in "Game over". I have been inside a base "game over". I've been underground "game over". i have even been in an underground base and again "game over". i am not up to powering my ship yet to jump off the first island. My OCD wants me to accomplish what i can on the first land mass before heading to another and my ADHD is screaming at me to figure out how to survive the meteor hit. Has anyone figured out how to stop the "Game over" and survive a hit?

Ok Update, I made Ship batteries and flew away from the next meteor and still "game over" after it impacted the first landmass. I'm so frustrated that I will probably take a break for a week or more :(

I'll need to re-balance that, but don't worry too much about the "Game Over", it means you couldn't stop the meteor (and this one is very big so basically destroy everything, not just one island), but when you hold Space you continue from where you were before the impact and it pushes back the meteor impact for 30 minutes.
Now, I think this big meteor comes way too soon and I'll change that.

Please do, or make it easier to build the rocket that stops the meteors. If I was faced with losing my entire game multiple times over, I think I would quit in frustration. Making us wait until we can make nuclear engines to build the rocket seems a bit much.

The "Game Over" lets you continue from just before the impact, and postpone the impact, so it doesn't have much consequences.
However, until you "defeat" that meteor, it will always be that one, so you don't get the next meteor which is a "nice" one which creates a new island.

With the latest patch, that "Game Over" meteor only comes later.

Yeah, i jumped on the new planet pretty much immediately when it was released and had the same problem. I have my game set on Hardcore, so I wondered if that was part of it, but I guess not. :)

Love the floating islands, BTW. Super cool!

That's great news because I have gotten the game over one three times in a row now. Are you saying until I build the rocket to stop the meteors I will keep getting the game over one? Please see my edit above about the difficulty in making the rocket.

so far i played 5 hours on the new planet havent seen any danger.. all meteors i see do nothing

i love the meteors system just wish they were random and can destroy 1 island so u can move what u can before u have the rocket to stop it and maybe harder so the rocket only stops next 1 so u always have to make sure u can build more to stop if there is a risk of hitting you

rockets dont work !
just watched meteor land on top of the rocket

rockets work, just got to make sure its finished building 100%, otherwise yes you will still get game over.
Kaorimoch Dec 18, 2024 @ 2:59pm
I thought you had to get off the island before the meteor hit, and your original base went kaboom so you had to build on other islands, which may or may not go kaboom as well, requiring you to distribute your supply chains around.

It really is near impossible to build a rocket in the time allotted. You have to go down the entire tech tree to make 2 Nuclear Reactors, which requires 10 refined uranium to launch the rocket.

I think if the player just had an option to do something about the meteor prior to the endgame rocket, we'd be pretty happy. Something like a three minute warning+timer every so often and you have to pull a lever on a like big space-catapult or something until we can get the actual rocket built. We just want some agency.

Yeah, right now the whole meteor mechanic feels off and kinda bad IMHO. Games like this I play to relax, a ticking clock trying to rush me through the whole tech tree…is pretty much impossible and annoying.
Agreed, this tells me to never try an Ocean world.
