I doubt it, no water intake and a disregard for the necessity of any other nutrients beside those given from trees. They need oxygen and trees to live without any form of rest in current development.
But, like i say, it is not an unreasonable request for this game, since the protagonist is visible in multiple scenarios and is currently clearly a caucasian man. Whether they are a cyborg that just needs organic materials to survive is irrelevant, since they have been built with a face, and that face is white and male.
Also, many factors point to the protagonist being human.
But aside from that, if they are not, then they are produced in a factory, and the factory can choose to create them with any kind of face they like. Or no face at all.
This is an immersive sim. And the player's face is visible. Therefore it is not unreasonable for female or non caucasian players to want to feel immersed by having the player look a little more like them. I do not feel body type options are strictly necessary, since inside a bulky spacesuit most physiques capable of being an astronaut would be mostly indistinguishable. This is also good, because having multiple character models will be more problematic than just having multiple face texture and color options.
FYI, here are some games that do not have player customization options (and note the reasons why):
Factorio: the Engineer's face is never visible and they are in bulky environment suit
The Planet Crafter: same as Factorio
Subnautica: player is only visible occasionally in silouette, so about as unobtrusive as possible, plus it is a cartoony anime silouette - i am sure they could have added an alternate, but considering the technical debt of that game, i'm not surprised they didn't add any additional complexity (especially since the player never speaks and engages in no character specific story beats)
Subnautica Below Zero: and then for this one they went full on female protagonist, which again makes sense to not be optional, since they went for a fully voiced story, so even if they removed the gender specific story beats, they would still need to record all the dialogue twice for each language
As a counterpoint to Below Zero, Fallout 4 also has a fully voiced protagonist with some gender specific dialogue, and allows for male and female. But that game had a budget in the many tens of millions and was full of dialogue. So either the protagonist needed to be silent, with a modified story, and there be no 3rd person view, or they needed to do what they did.
Or for an example where gender makes no difference on gameplay but they provide the option, Medieval Engineers. Another immersive sim, and one where the player is visible in third person, and therefore the devs provided some options for immersion.
(Or Space Engineers, face visible through helmet, so there are options, despite it having zero gameplay affect, they even added a different body type due to their sleek futuristic space suit)
The point is this: if a game has a story with a specific individual as the protagonist, or even one which requires the protagonist to have certain characteristics, then it makes sense to limit the options. And in those cases all players are roleplaying as a specific character or character type, e.g. Adam Jenson or Link or Aloy. Also if the character is never seen or heard, no options are required. E,g, a gazillion games, including some mentioned above.
But, if a game has no voiced dialogue, and no gender specific story beats, but does allow the player to see their character's face/skin/unsuited body - then it seems reasonable, especially in an immersive sim, for players to want options for how the character looks, at least at the most basic level.
And like i say, it should definitely not be high priority. But the suggestion should not be dismissed in some of the ways seen in this thread. Games are supposed to be fun. For all of us. I enjoy playing as Aloy in HZD. And i enjoyed playing as Jenson in DXHR. And I was aware of why those where the only options. But where possible i try and make my character look like Drizzt. And if my avatar was female then that would be what i would try for. Pretty much any time there is not a voiced protagonist and no characteristic specific story or dialogue beats, it is not unreasonable to desire options.
And like i said as well, it makes sense to not add those options until an appropriate time, since they will add additional assets and menus and code, all of which can affect other things, as well as being additional features for people to raise tickets about. Whereas now it is a single (reasonable and politely requested) feature request.
So, i am new here. And i think this game is great. And is most definitely an immersive sim. And one of the best. Where the player can easily roleplay as a stranded survivor from The Martian or Interstellar. And that survivor has no required gender, race, nationality or eye color. And there is no expectation of any story beats that will narrow the selection of those traits. And since their face is visible, it is not unreasonable to add some related options in due course. And i hope the community for this game is the kind that will understand that this is not an unreasonable or illogical request, and that it would have been sufficient to simply acknowledge it as so, while also making the point about it not having a high priority.
Although the game does seem pretty stable and polished already. And so we may be at the stage where they might add some nice to haves like this before too long.
Peace :-)

Sure, but that option doesn't make the developer any money.
Seriously, why are you guys so threatened by the prospect of a female version of the character?
i am sure the OP will be along to thank you soon - and i am glad you got here before anything got too ugly
this is a truly awesome game for all to enjoy - and i am sure everyone would still (and does currently) enjoy it even while roleplaying as an archetypal pale dude ;-)
but i am sure you have been waiting for this question for a while - ever since you implemented the visible character face (which was already in the demo, just only through the ship cockpit or in the cutscene, since no drone at that time - but most people must have seen it)
so it is nice to now have anyone who is interested be able to search and find this thread (to which the OP will hopefully mark your post as the answer)
anyway, thanks for all the great work - i'm loving the game, and wishing you eminent success with it
Hear! Hear!
nice! More options are always a good thing.
Thank you! I came to the boards to ask this too. While clearly low priority, the bit of customization would be very nice since we can see our characters and each other in co-op. I'm hoping a female model and some skin and suit color options would be a fairly simple that would go a long way when playing with multiple friends.
