Graphene or coal

Is there some secret to finding either one of these on echo prime. Finished the newest planet so i thought i would re-visit the original and take up where i left off. Now i am stuck as i have searched both islands high and low for graphene or coal. Can't progress without one of the two. Need to unlock alloy recipes so i can go to the Hot island. Any help would be appreciated.

Graphene is located just north of the starting location on Echo Prime on the edge of the hot zone.

Wondering if i hadnt mis-communicated which planet i am on....On the original demo planet ...was 2 islands now 3 islands

Oops...I was talking about Echo Prime, the big 2nd planet.

I carried my save from the Ocean World prologue and converted it in the full game. I ended up making a couple of vehicle batteries for the ship and went to the Hot Island that way.
I refined Cobalt from the original island and Sulphur from the nearby small island to make them.

Here is the thing tho....u have to have the alloy recipes or you can't make the reinforced shelter and you can't make the 5 databases they want you to make. I so love this game but this is just making me nuts...lol...and thank you for all the advice. i guess i will just have to keep looking.

When I went to the hot island the first thing was make a regular habitat and food maker. You can walk around quite a bit without dieing and can survive in a regular habitat module. Food and air will keep you alive. You get burned a lot but can survive. I never found graphene or coal on the other islands. It can be done if you don't mind the occasional scream when you get burned. :) I landed on the far side of the island in a large open area. All the resources I needed were there to make all the other stuff. Just make sure you have warehouses full of everything you can make on the first two islands ready before you leave.

For future reference, you can always make coal from wood.

And, is it available from the converted save from the Ocean world prologue? I know coal can be made from graphene deposits but haven't found a use for it in the converted save I'm working in.

To help gathering resources and setting buildings down in hot or cold areas, just set down a habitat and position yourself just inside the door, where you are still immune to the hot or cold effects. From there, activate your drone and you can go gather resources, explore, set buildings and machinery down safely. When done just go out and set a new habitat rinse, repeat....
