There was no sarcasm, someone asked the other day and the answer from the dev was the end of the month.
hi, we need rocket to go into other planets or just use spaceship? and can we wander in space? thanks. I'm still thinking to buy it with my friends
Booo - Just kidding. Better to release a good update than a rushed one. Thanks for the update.
Now you know we'll all be checking Steam for updates all hours of the day and night next weekend :)
In this industry, missing a firm promise (i.e. embedded in the game) is not the best approach. I understand that there are reasons why it could not happen; but, there are also reasons why it should have happened.
Your early adopters - well most - know they are not getting a finished product that has been trialed and tested. WIP, by itself, is not a good reason for delay. All that shows is a lack of forethought and/or planning.
They would not hold it against you if the new planet was released at 23:59:59 11/30/24. One second later - barring unsynced clocks - and moods change. You know that your enthusiastic adopters - read, best promoters - most likely have been checking daily for the past week, given the 11/18 post reaffirming the planet release under beta; and, especially given the time the upcoming weekend provides for checking out new things.
Instead of reaffirming the planet release in your 11/18 update, it would have been better to foreshadow a possible delay. Be honest with your adopters and they will forgive most atrocities.
Let's just chalk this up to a lesson learned through the school of hard knocks. Then again, surprise us within the next 32 hours, or so, time zone dependent.
