Exactly how does single player work? There would be no chain which defeats purpose of game right? Or are you chained to an NPC?

I'm playing it now, there's just no chains and it's super easy. You get the achievements too.

There's no chain, and in the menu it's listed as "practice mode" because it does indeed defeat the purpose of the game.

When playing solo, there are no restrictions or chains, and the obstacles are relatively straightforward compared to the varied challenges encountered when playing with other players.

Aren't there a bunch of parts where the chain is NEEDED though? I remember a part near the beginning where you and a mate need to fall on both ends of a pipe and slide down with the chain using it as a zipline.

it's changed for solo so it's possible, usually easier than the co-op version.

They should attach a ragdoll skeleton that acts as dead weight. Maybe you need to pick him up and hold him on the bigger jumps!
