What is a "burst ability"

The tutorial says you can use burst abilities to use up your style and do extra damage.

What is a burst ability, please? None of my abilities say "burst" on them.

None to start out with, you'll get more as you go on. Some characters are more burst-centric than others.

Ok, thank you. So, I'll know when I get a burst ability, then? It will say "burst" on it, or the game will make it clear? I just got Lauren the singer to join my party, and am running away to her hideout. I still have no burst abilities.

This game is SO poorly explained in so many areas. I am really enjoying it, but the devs really needed to do a much better job of explaining stats and abilities shields and programs and lots of stuff better.

Yeah, you should start getting them pretty soon. That does seem kind of late now that you mention it, but it sounds about right in terms of the plot. It should say Burst right in the description line. Chapter 6 according to the guides.

I've only started the game recently. I got a shield (that I think is Alyssa only) called Heroine that has burst abilities, that change depending on who else is in the party with her.
