Mac & Linux Beta code
If you own Cosmic Star Heroine on Steam and would like to try the beta for Mac & Linux, go to Cosmic Star Heroine in your library, select Properties (Betas tab) and enter maclinuxtest as the password. Note, it's a beta so you may run into issues. When posting about issues, please indicate which version you're playing. Please keep bug reports for Mac & Linux to this thread.

Hey y'all,

You might want to find a way to tell people that they have to opt into a beta to play on Mac. I saw I could download the game on my Mac, tried to do it, the install took 1 sec and then the game didn't work. I thought there was some horrible downloading error I had to troubleshoot. I don't mind if the mac version is only in beta; I know y'all are a small studio and that these things take time. But it would help to know the mac version is only an opt-in, password protected beta!

The game works fine so far (Lubuntu 18.04, Nvidia with latest drivers).

Thanks so much for doing this! I am experiencing screen tearing on backgrounds when they move—the city swims and Alyssa's face moves in chunks in cutscenes. I am on a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013). The contrast also seems washed out—the blacks are not as black as they are on the Switch.

But a few minutes in and these are the only issues.

After changing my resolution to the maximum setting in Settings -> Video, I no longer experienced tearing. So the real issue for this is me choosing the right settings after installing the game, even if, uh, I don't really know them off the top of my head. Thanks!

So far so good for me. While the game crashed on Ubuntu 17.10 when changing the resolution to full screen, I never had that problem after updating to Ubuntu 18.04.
Beside that, I had a few tiny bugs (like getting stuck in a door frame or minor graphical errors, but nothing game breaking).

Steam Achievements don't seem to be working for Linux.

I've also found a spot you can get stuck in the map and a few graphical error (incorrect layering) want those here as well?
small thing you might want to pass up to valve

with steamplay(valves wine) enabled for all titles you will download the windows version

seems to be downloading the linux binaries now that i have disabled it. doubt itll be an issue at release its just a weird bug since the game still thinks its windows only it seems to prefer the steamplay version when its enabled for all titles even though theres a linux version in the branch

EDIT: can also confirm achievements dont work looks like its having trouble loading steamworks/api the files are there and ldd shows all deps are met. running in console or moving the files to the base directory doesnt help

Only about an hour or two in at the time of post.
No in-game or gameplay specific issues.
I'm not testing for Steam specific stuff.
Stock Fedora 28
nvidia 680 gtx w/linux driver 396.54
kernel 4.17

Same issue as Slacker. Picked up CSH on sale for the linux version--Steam wouldn't download the linux version with Proton enabled. Disabled Proton, game re-downloaded with linux binaries, re-enabled Proton, so far so good.

Xubuntu
Nvidia 396.54
AMD 1800x
&
Celeron Silver
Intel HD3000

Exits when changing resolution, idk if intended as there is no indicator/warning. Otherwise fine so far.

Great news. I don't own the game yet, but I want to get one copy for me (linux) and one for my brother (who uses mac).

So count me for 2 copies once the beta stage ends.
(Sorry for spaming the thread with of topic comment)

I can't find the version number, but thought I'd point out that the game crashes when you change screen resolutions. Fortunately it remembers what you chose when you reboot it.

Slowly progressing in the story as I have time and interest for it. Whats the status of this anyway, are there any differences from the stable mainline branch of the game ?

Dualshock 4 button mappings are not correct. For example Dpad right makes you move up and Dpad left makes you move down, R2 makes you move right etc. Both when connected with USB cable and bluetooth.

Just beaten the whole game playing only on Linux. Aside from achievements not unlocking I've had no real issues.
The protaits for the enemies in Sue's side quest were showing my party members and an elevator scene on the space ship transission into space rather than black. That's all I can think off.
Thank you for another great game.
