What is "Hyper"?
I see on my char screens something like "Hyper every 2 turns", but I missed what it actually does.

I'm not sure either. Not really sure what Style is too.

The game actually stops to tell you what it is, and then when you get to the base, you get even more exposition.

Yeah, but it's not much use when it comes in the tutorial after some info-dumping (admittedly it's not bad for it), and in the middle of some conversations. Hopefully the digital guide will go up soon so there's a handy reference.

Hyper doubles your damage and your ailment damage (which determines if ailments succeed) for one turn. Hyper automatically happens every X turns (number of turns varies from character to character and whether or not it's the first time they've gotten hyper in that battle).

Ah, excellent, thanks for that clarification.

Style is basically a stacking damage/healing increase. it's there to speed up fights. a similar mechanic was in Cthulhu Saves The World as well.

my only confusion, right now, is what Sparkle is... and about buffs. i know Alyssa's Inspire lasts 3 turns, as does one of the items you find, but, what about things like Fortification or Rock Solid? Fortification doesn't have a duration listed, so, it lasts untl the battle ends? Rock Solid says "4", so, 4 turns?

Sparke is for magic damage. Not sure how magic damage differs from damage that scales off of Hacking. Is Hacking just for programs (shield) magic? While Sparke is for skills (character) magic?

oh, that's right, and, as far as i can tell, magic abilities are abilities that say "spell" in them, such as Drown from Alyssa. or, Sparkle could effect ALL elemental damage. i'm not too sure.

i'm 99% sure Hackitude effects an ability like Laser, but, would Zap be considered a Hackitude ability ot a Sparkle one?

Cunning, i know, is debuff resistance/damage. i'm not sure what Rust does. is it defense down?

So, is there no manual that explains att hese abilities and skills? If not, there really needs to be a manual or in-game guide that explains all this stuff. Putting out a game, but not explaining what the skills and abilities do is no good.

Halfshell Apr 11, 2017 @ 5:26pm
I think Sparke affecting all character spells is correct. Theres a shield that makes all spells scale with Hack so give that to any heavy Hackers. Most other characters have balanced Hack and Sparke anyways. I would like something in-game that clerifies it. I think it was at the start, but it shouldn't be necessary to start another game to double check..

Edit: Although there are character abilities like Drone, Patch and Hack that I would assume scale with Hacking. But I think Zap scales with Sparke. Laser I think is Phsyical nevermind, says tech based attack, but its so hard to tell when everyone has balanced stats lol.

they do explain at the beginning what Hyper does, what Hackitude, Spakle, etc. all do, but, i just forgot like an idiot for some reason.

there was also a guy who explained the debuffs as well, but i don't remeber Rust being in there... which is probably was and i'm just dumb.

it doesn't explain how abilities scale, though. i'm just going to assume Elemental attacks all scale with Sparke and any tech-based attacks scale with Hackitude, unless otherwise stated. likewise, the same goes for buffs; if there's no duration listed, i'm just gonna assume it lasts 'til the battle ends.

Eh that rule of thumb doesn't.. work all the time. Relatively sure Zap is Tech and you get more Tech based elemental skills later. Usually you can figure out whats Tech by the name. So an Acid Flask is Tech. But then Guns are all Sparke.. at least I think they are. The Gun character has good Hack and Sparke so its hard to tell.

I think he mentions Rust at the end.

My other thing that needs clarifying are the weakness pictures. Water and Fire make enough sense, but there's one that's basically a brown rock or something. Earth? Physical? It's not explained.
Halfshell Apr 12, 2017 @ 3:14am
Thats Earth. Try using the Hard Rock ability for Sue and attacking a weak to Earth enemy. Although it should be mentioned somewhere I agree.

From Kickstarter (posted in 2014) :
Physique - This determines the damage that your physical-oriented attacks do. It also affects your HP growth and your defense against physical attacks.

Sparke - This determines the damage that your magic-oriented attacks do. It also affects your maximum style effectiveness (100% at 0 sparke, 200% at 100 sparke) and your defense against magic attacks.

Hackitude - This determines the damage that your tech-oriented attacks do. It is also necessary to unlock more programs (based on which shield you have equipped).

Cunning - This determines the success of ailments & the power of items. It also affects your ailment resistance & gives a small bonus to turn speed.
-----------
Ailments in the game include stun (skip a turn), charm (may target allies), vulnerable (takes double damage from the next attack), enrage (targets the last person to hurt them & lowers area attack effectiveness), and disarm (lowers attack power for their next move). There is also a set of 3 ailments that are specific to different enemy types - Poison (Organic only, takes damage every turn), Rust (Robotic only, takes damage & lowers speed), and Curse (Astral only, lowers stats).
