Hoping you do - love the bit of easy replayability that NG+ modes add, even if you're only getting to keep a certain amount of what you got in the previous run, or if the subsequent run has no significant changes to plot or characters or anything. I mean, I love Final Fantasy VI (or III, as it was when I first played it - hooray localization issues) and Chrono Trigger both to death, so I'm fine with whichever outcome.
I'll admit, I'm one of those guys who feels this should have become industry standard years ago for RPGs especially, though for any game with persistent upgrades, like Bioshock's picture system and ADAM gain.(This is not pulled out of my butt, as the PS3 version, with the DLC, adds a New Game + mode).
I feel it adds to a repeat experience, as it encourages me to play again to gain more, and be better. Heck, I'll say right now that I cheat to achieve it when it's not there, typically with an RPG like this, I add stat points by buying them for some amount of money, with the amount of stat points gained per sale going up with the playthru.
For example, stats cost 1000 gold per point, but after beating the game, that price stays the same, but now you can get two points for the same price. Beating it again you get three points per buy, etc.
As long as you leave everything else the same, it doesn't even interfere much with the game, as you can choose not to use it if you want, it's just there as a bonus, one that always goes up, so you've always got reason to play again.
Just throwing out some ideas for you guys in case you do decide to add new game+
Phantasy star Generations 1 was translated to english. I think phantasy star generations 2 english translation still being worked on.
Stuff like NG+ is what allowed me to replay Chrono Trigger, Front Mission 3 and so forth repeatedly without having to redo a lot of stuff again. Back in the day, the few times I tried to replay Final Fantasy VIII or Dragon Quest VII, so much of the time was spent on dealing with the (ultimately/eventually) boring gameplay and I'd either give up or resort to cheating.
New Game + is such an obvious and fairly easy to integrate answer to that. In fact, I think just about any game that has enough length, progression and/or story could probably benefit from it so long as the genre is appropriate. (Obviously it'd be silly in a Point and Click or Puzzle game)
EDIT: Although it's admittedly short, I did replay CSTW quite a few times in part thanks to features like that sped up the leveling. And while it's off topic, are we perhaps going to see an additional modes? I loved Cthulhu's Angels, although I don't know how you'd do something like that for this.
The point of NG+ is to screw the balance, to one shot bosses that beat you many times, etc. I have to admit I'm scratching my head when I read:
As even the most basic, basic way to implement NG+ (keep all gold, items, levels and abilities) would work (there might be specific cases where it could cause bugs that I didn't think of, but there can't be many).
