Favorite team? [minor spoilers]
Hasn't been a ton of talk about the characters so lets start something of that kind up (spoilers, in that you're gonna see who joins you).

So who are some of your favorite teams? What are some of your favorite combinations?

Dave is in my team for sure. 2nd is likely to be Mr. Disco Robot or Sue. If Sue I'll likely match him up with a healer or a tempo player. If Discobot then someone that can stall or help set him up. Although some of the time I want number 3 to be a damage dealer.

The team that I've been taking through many of the late game bosses/optional bosses (take that ancient eldritch horror!) on Super-Spy has been:

Psybe - Great healer/supporter. Healing song allows you to neglect healing in the early part of the fight and focus on other actions (especially combined with Alyssa's defend heal/the support character regen). Also a decent healer on his own through other skills. His ability to buff Hyper damage is incredible, since setting up Hyper hits is where most of your big damage will come from. His ability to let others share his style is also really helpful in getting others to recover from a burst attack (though I'm not entirely sure the mechanics of it). I don't even use him to attack, but he's got some decent attack skills too if you like.

Arete - Not the best for quick battles but in prolonged fights she's incredible. Drones give a constant source of damage, she can buff up items for a great poison use, and her range of different attacks is really powerful. What really sets her apart though is her Mutate skill - suddenly giving an enemy an elemental weakness. I have seen no enemy resist this. She can set up Alyssa/her drone/ANYONE to be doing way more damage after a few casts.

Alyssa! - Alyssa will always be there, but I basically have her cycling through 3 skills - buff herself/team, massive attack on Hyper, defend. Repeat. Heal if necessary. Incredible, consistent damage.

Lauren - Due to some bugs, Lauren is broken as hell right now. Again not the best for quick fights, but she brings it for long fights. One of her best skills, Encore, recharges all her abilities, gives her an extra turn, and can be used once per battle. Except that's where the bug is - it can be used repeatedly. Like, 12 times in a row while no one else gets a turn. Why would you do that? Well, it gives Style. She can go from 0 to 300 style immediately, use Mic drop on full style to max her speed and suddenly get 3 turns to everyone else's 1, then go right back up to 300 style again. In those 3 turns to the enemy's 1, she can be dropping a myriad of status ailments and constantly bringing Hyper attacks - if Arete gets the enemy weak to wind, this can really be powerful. Lauren's a beast.
(I try not to use Encore like this, since it can really break the game, but I do occasionally use it to set up Hypers/an alternative Defend. There's enough skills that don't work correctly, I'm choosing to see this as a balance dammit! Even once this gets patched she'll still be pretty good).

Sue/Orson make a good replacement for anyone here. They both buff their own Hypers nicely and Sue can really be helpful with his attacks that bring vulnerability, as well as his counters that can be made to set up disarm.

Lot of good options.

Cool to see your approach. Your team goes for a later stalling approach than mine. I just like seeing big numbers to be honest. I'll have everyone spend 2 or 3 turns to set up for 1 really big hit! (Sue and Clarke excell at this, but others can too, even Chahn. Edit: Guess most characters can tbh..)

I do think the developers did a great job diversifying the characters so there are a lot of options, but towards the end game and the final mission this is what I rolled with: (this is off the top of my head so I may get some of the shield/ability names wrong)

Alyssa (obviously) - Heroine Shield and Lovecraft Sachel - Mostly used Laser, Final Blow, Pacifist Smash, and then either Flood or Data Storm in Hyper Mode.

Z'xorv - Titan Shield and Superior Cape - (Tank) I just stuck with his heavy damage abilities and self heal. If things went bad during a fight he was usually the last one standing.

Chahn - Life Shield and Shield Headband - (Party Defense & Healing), and then used focus boosted Sniper or Purification Torch when in Hyper Mode.

Dave - Ghost Shield and Eco-Specs - (Debuff and Robo Killer) Stun, Vulnerable, impose weakness to ailments (the gauranteed stun program is also nice against bosses), Also Healing/Reviving, and then Enviro-Hack when in Hyper Mode. Even though there are more damaging weapons out there I stuck with the Robo Wrecker against robots as it makes the enviro-hack insanely damaging in the last mission, especially when in a vulnerable state.

For the support member I went with the girl that adds 50% to Gunmancy.

An alternate to Z'xorv could easily be Clarke as his abilities could really help increase the damage of the other party members, or Psybe as his song abilities are a great support as well. Also, you could just give Sue the Titan shield and roll with him if prefered.

Between Alyssa's Flood or Data Storm (one time ability)
Chahn's Sniper/Purification Torch with Focus and 50% Gunmancy boost
and Dave's Enviro-Hack I was able to dish out a lot of damage pretty consistently and have the defense/healing capabilities to keep the battle going for awhile if needed.

I definitely agree that big damage is the way to go. With limited skills, saving up for big hits on a hyper seems to get the most return for any strategy. There are some drawn out bosses though where it pays to have a specialized support character.

That being said I found the lategame team that (even on Super-Spy) straight up breaks the game over its knee and ends every fight almost immediately.

Alyssa, Orson, Psybe, and Anyone (Sue works well).

Psybe is there entirely for his Hyper Awareness skill, boosting Hyper damage by 100%.

The Anyone slot is for using the Buffz item and the Vulnerable item, or trying to get the enemy vulnerable through skills (which is why Sue works well, he can inflict Vulnerable).

For most mobs, Alyssa's ultimate Skill, Data Storm, will kill everything. Buffing herself with Heroine Aura, followed by Psybe's Hyper buff, followed by Buffz, and then Hyper casting Data Storm will do near 30,000 damage to everything on screen by Alyssa's second turn. That's gonna kill almost every mob in the game and anyone who survives can be cleaned up by Orson. For bosses, well...

The real hitter here is Orson. His ultimate, Gaea's Rage, is ridiculous. Especially when backed with a shield that boosts his Sparke and his ultimate weapon, Decimator (which can be bought from a shop pretty soon after you recruit him). The attack is "Multi-element" so it seems to hit every weakness.

The order basically goes like this - Alyssa boosts Orson with Inspire, then can use Data Storm to soften an enemy up, then try to get them vulnerable. Psybe Hyper boosts Orson. The Anyone Buffz Orson then also tries to get the enemy vulnerable if they aren't already. Orson goes Gumshoe Shift boost, Chant Boost, and then casts Gaea on his Hyper. Against one endgame boss I did OVER 100,000 DAMAGE. Oh, and it hits all enemies, so it'll clean up mobs or bosses with helpers. Almost nothing in the game will survive this damage, and whatever does will be left with almost no life left and be very easy to finish off.

It's an endgame setup but damn does it work. Be warned about using this combo. After discovering it, no enemy - not the final boss, not nothing (on Super Spy) - was able to last more than 4 turns. It uh... kinda takes out the challenge.

Alyssa, Dave, Psybe and Z'xorv.

Turn 1:
Alyssa: Heroine Aura
Psybe: Hyper Awareness
Dave: Cheat Code
Z'xorv: BUFFZ item.

Turn 2:
Alyssa: Data Storm

If by some miracele everything isn;t dead yet, then Psybe activates a song, dave does... something, and Z'xorv deleted tigns with Murder.

Data Storm can also be substituted with Dave's Null for single targets. Can also replace soemone with Orson for Gaea rage

Also, Psybe with Ancient Lore accessory (Songs Never End) is waaaay too good. You can cast a Song, and then use Cacaphony or Crescendo and the song will continue playing. Thats incredible! Actually, I beleive Psybe is the only character than HAS to be on any "best end game" team. He just offers far too much to pass up. Other than Alyssa, of course.
