Moto3 bikes it's all about maintaining speed, those bikes don't accelerate well so you need to try not to slow down too much. GP bikes, it's all about controlling the throttle and not throwing yourself off the bike by accelerating too hard.
Use good racing lines - brake early for corners and get in the mindset of wanting to get back on the throttle as soon as you can, rather than braking as late as you can. You want more speed coming out of the corners not going into them.
I mainly use front brake, about 80% to 20% rear brake. Tap the rear brake when cornering makes the back slide out, so can help point the nose back in if you're running wide. Also, be vey gentle with the throttle as you can easily lose the back wheel.
Do you use a controller with vibrate? The instant you feel the vibration when you're cornering ease off the throttle or brakes. This means you can push harder but also learn not to fall off.
it's possible but it's really hard to control the throttle out of corner, so you can't go fast with keyboard compare to joystick with trigger like xbox 360 controller or logitech f510/f710
also another tips, if you find it's hard to beat AI, try not to beat them..
but follow their racing line, braking point, also when to open throttle, stay behind them as long as you can without ram their behind. trust me it's harder to follow them than to overtake them :p
then if you feel that you can control your bike better with following around AI within 5 laps or so, then you can go for overtake :)
oh, always go easy with throttle with motogp bikes..for starter when you feel vibration or see skid marks when accelerating that's the sign you open throttle too much and rear wheel start spinning. it's okay to have skid marks when you master your bike tho (not okay with tyre wear option on, avoid them! xD)
and if you like, go with manual transmision..it's faster if you get them right
Rake and Trail: all the way left (leaving only the smallest part of the bar).
Gears: 1st and 2nd gears very short, you will have TCS constantly working and rising front wheel but you will be fast in corners.
3rd and 4th gears - a little bit longer than 2nd.
5th gear a bit not reaching the right end.
6th gear: all the way to the right.
Final gear ratio: to the left, towards acceleration 2 bars.
Brakes: use Disc 2 for better steering on both wheels.
Tyres: soft compound on all wheels.
Good advice would be to use practice sessions to the maximum on each track, you should be able to ride almost automatically during the race. Don't sit in the boxes.
Don't jump into top difficulty levels, try riding Moto3 and Moto2 on easy level, select contracts carefully with your manager choosing teams with as highest performance bars as possible (those, whose riders are top 10 and top 15). Develop your bike with the following priority: Suspension, Chassis, Engine (if available), Brakes - paying the biggest attention at what you are experiencing with your bike, for example if you have troubles controlling it then work on the Chassis and Suspension, if the bike is slow on straight try to develop Engine with data packs.
I am doing only my first season in Career but I have already won 6 races in Moto 3, transfered to Moto 2 and won 3 races there. Not getting a MotoGP offer though so I think that I will have to stay for the next season in Moto2.
Play the Moto2, it should be a good preparation before you hit MotoGP - similar speeds of approx. 285 - 300 km/h, similar acceleration. Don't stay too long in Moto 3. Play with a gamepad (XBOX 360 for example).
Agree with you 100% and some Good advice there.
Awesome game shame it never got Popular on PC.
Wonda how the new game Ride by Milestone will be.
