Game won't start - VCOMP100.DLL error

Fresh install of game on PC. Get a System Error when trying to start game: "The code execution cannot proceed because VCOMP100.DLL was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." A reinstall did not work, I get the same error.

Of note, I also noticed that the desktop shortcut placed by the installer did NOT point to the game; I had to find the EXE file in my steamapps folder in order to run it.

Any help is appreciated.

Try manually downloading and installing VC Redistributable x86. Game kept trying to update it when I started the game. After several attempts of the game not starting, this is what I did. Google it and download from Microsoft site. Installing the x64 version didn't fix it for me. I had to download and install x86 version. Good luck
