Should I buy the game's dlc?
I'm about to buy the game, but I don't know if I should purchase the downloable content.
Do they affect the main storyline, or they just add extra goods like dialogue and quests?
Will I miss anything if I don't get them?

Also, I heard that some of the dlc's makes you upgrade your equipment faster, but, do they lower the game's difficulty to a point where you don't have to put much effort into it?

Thanks, and sorry if i wrote something incorrectly.

You can play the game just fine without them. The ones that give you oculi are not worth it in my opinion, you find plenty of them in game and each DLC adds maybe... 5 of them each? For 1€, discounted price? lol no.
The Golem DLC adds a quest and a new party member, and you get 2 skins for Aurora + some items with the other remaining 2 DLCs... so I guess they're the only ones worth getting if you want.
I played through the game with none of this stuff the first time, and have yet to try the Golem quest so you don't really miss anything.

That is really informative. Thank you very much!

Yeah, I have to admit, for anyone who's just picking up the game, these dlc packs are pretty confusing looking.

"Ooh, this one gives me 2 blue, 2 red and 2 green.

...what the hell does that mean?"

It means extra money from people who blindly buy them!

That's why we're asking for opinions.

For example in Rift, you can get earring slots from a package for money, or with in-game currency - some players say 'oh it's ridiculous to buy them, just get them with in-game', but for nearly all players I think the in-game cost is so high it'd be worth buying them from the package, so depends who you ask.

So one player said the 'occuli' are not worth getting as DLC.

Yeah, pretty much the same thing as the example you brought up...
I said they're not worth it because they don't really make a huge difference at the beginning, and by the time they start to become useful, you already have plenty of them, and have learned how to craft them. Better ones too...
Not to mention you can trade them with friends on uplay, so that pretty much tags those DLCs as "waste of money" for me.

As everyone else above me as said, the oculi packs are not worth it.

As for the other DLCs, I've wrote a detailed review on each of them. Might be worth a read.

In my opinion the most useful DLC is the Light Aurora Pack as it gives Aurora a heal skill. This gives you 2 team members who can heal which gives you a bit more flexibility. Beyond that all of the DLC's are relativly minor changes and can be skipped without any real impact.

I would prefer the Dark Aurora Pack for more Magic for Aurora's only Light magic in the game than a useless Heal skill. The Jester has more Speed and (Magic) Defense/HP as well as an auto-heal passive skill so you should always heal with her instead.
