The ironic thing is, I think this game was made at a time when some of the devs at Ubisoft still truly cared about what they were doing.
I remember playing Assassin's Creed: Odyssey a couple of years ago, and I was baffled by the non-existent music a lot of the time...and then when music did play sometimes in that game, it was unbelievably awful.
And I also played older Ubi games, like AC: Black Flag and Child of Light, both of which have amazing music.
If you watch some of Ubi's old videos like this:

You can see a vast contrast between the passion that some of the creators clearly put into their games back then, versus the total lack of care or passion, the absence of which is very obvious, in all of their newer games from more recent years.
I have to say, as a 3d artist living near their offices, I dont want to work there and I dont really agree with their way of doing things atm.
The core development team that worked on Child of Light is long gone from Ubisoft. There's really no one left to continue the vision and hasn't been for almost 4 years. The main writer is working on the Assassin's Creed franchise which has been successful.
From a business standpoint it would be crazy to pull him off writing for that franchise to work on a pet project that will be mildly successful. These side scrolling games don't typically make a lot of money. Maybe a startup will grab the IP and roll with it someday.
