Disabling uPlay achievement notifications?

I don't give a toss about achievements. I don't want to see uPlay popups about them in the middle of my game. Turning off the overlay won't do it. Disabling in-game and desktop notifications won't do it. As memory serves, going offline won't stop it, either. Am I missing something? How do I get rid of these?

Disabling the overlay should get rid of all notifications... are you sure you did it?

Yup. Every time I launch the game, it warns me about how disabling the overlay might disable some features of the game.
