Whats the magic like in this game?
im thinking about buying the game but in the trailer the player always used heavy amounts of magic and personally im the kinda guy who plays without hocus pocus mumbo jumbo, prefering to bash heads instead with long shafts of metal.

so my question is. is magic optional? or am i going to have to use it to get by in this game?

i really like the way the game looks otherwise

(also how reliably can one play without magic can one pump their defence to take hits instead of mp?)

Thanks!

It's mostly classbased ( freely ) so you can fully invest in melee, without the need to have any magic.

Cool! So im not missing out on anything by not using magic?

What you are missing out on are the general stuff, inherent in many games. A large part of the game is is the magic in two fields, ( call them light magic and dark magic ), where they are two separate skill-trees, so you could make a great wizard in either tree, or a sub-par in both. Magic helps a great deal ( great offence and defence plus curative means ).

Going pure melee with be tough, and I would suggest you invest atlest the bare minimum to atleast be able to heal yourself.

But you wont really miss anything if you werent interested in the magic from the start.

Using bow and arrow is the best. Forget magic, doesn't even do that much damage. You can sort of put points into anyting. Magic is best for healing I'd say. I pretty much blast everyone with arrows from afar. But a good melee is great. With slow, oozing slugs able to travel as fast as you can, melee can become tiring and cumbersome. I just blast them with arrows and move on.

Magic is optional. You have to put skillpoints to get it and they are kind of limited. No problem playing without magic on your side :)
