Ironically, I'm currently using a 5.1 setup, used to be 7.1 but I removed my rear speakers. It's funny that people will have the same or similar setups but wont have the issues that other people will get.
In the latest version, when i left Mother's Heart near the game beginning I remember the music changing suddenly, and awkwardly. And it happened at some other point in time. I think I also remember the lip syncing being slightly off at times too.
So there ARE definitely issues, but it's mostly been a non-issue for me.
I don't remember any COMBAT sound issues but I only got a couple hours in.

Start that and press the button in it to start monitoring. Then launch the game. When you get crackling see if LatencyMon detects an issue. If it does, that MAY suggest it's not the game.
I haven't noticed any audio crackling. But I also would have thought you'd get crackling in other games, so I would tend to think it's the game itself and something about your system setup. But it's complicated.
Being RANDOM really makes it hard to troubleshoot, but that's why I linked you to LatencyMon. You can read up on the reason why.
Maybe it just bugged out the one time and if I play again it will be fine, who knows? That's sadly the problem with games, thousands of people could play a game and will able to play it without any issues. Then the odd couple of people will play it and the game will just not work properly.
And, sadly, it won't likely ever be fixed. Post-launch support seems to have ended.
So no wonder it never recieved that good support, most likely the patching team is already disbanded and were moved for other projects.
Do you have a source for this because the last update was a month ago and so far updates seem to be happening on a almost monthly basis.
