Stupid Carja stealing my Stormbird kills

This isn't a bug, I'm just venting. I just spent 20 minutes and a silly amount of resources dropping the Stormbird outside Lone Light on UH difficulty, my first Stormbird kill since getting the remaster. The bird crashed down on critical health and a brand new Carja patrol came running out of the fort, fired literally one arrow, and killed the thing, claiming all the XP for the kill I've had the occasional NPC snipe a machine kill, but one dude taking my Stormbird XP with 1 arrow is definitely the most egregious I've seen.

Never have I more wished I could target neutral NPCs.

Man… I was so mad when this happened to me! I’m mildly suspicious that I actually did get the XP tho. I had just fired up the game and noticed I was super close to lvl 32, just a few points away. The very first battle I got into was with the stormbird just west of Daytower. Same thing - she’s within millimeters of death when a carja guard comes outta nowhere and yoinks the kill with a single arrow. I immediately raged when not a single kill or xp notification popped up! BUT, after a minute or two fuming I noticed I was suddenly ~3500 xp points into lvl 32. Almost like I got the xp anyway and leveled up, but not a single notification popped up since I didn’t finish the kill or something. I could be wrong but I know I didn’t do 3500 xp worth of work prior to that battle. I’ll certainly join you in targeting those neutral NPC kill thieves!
