Shield weaver armor absorbs a bit of fall damage, other than that, plan your decent more carefully is the best to avoid fall damage, as plumb as it sounds.

I gotta admit, after playing AC Valhalla, I died a couple of times here in the beginning because of how brutal fall damage is comparatively

Even worse when you're used to the shieldwing of Forbidden West and the grafic update makes you think you play that, you jump off a cliff just to be remembered, wrong game :D
