I'm looking to play with Japanese audio and English subs. It's a Japanese game, right? Is Japanese language not supported for non-Japanese release? Seems silly. There are instructions on how to change the language in the in-game menu.
Only bkz the voice acting is one of the less-well-done parts of the game in English (fortunately, Aloy is not as bad as some of them). And I'll play a game in its original language anytime possible.
You purchase the game with full knowledge of its available languages, as long as you check the list of supported audio and text languages here:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2561580/Horizon_Zero_Dawn_Remastered/
Offering more than 17 languages, excluding subtitle variations, and 10 languages for audio is quite rare. Few major games go this far, as the average is usually around 10 subtitle options and 5 audio languages.
If you are not satisfied, the players on this forum can only confirm the situation. Complaints should be directed to the developers and publishers.
My point is: There are instructions -- in the game -- on how to change the audio language. Japanese is listed in the audio languages the game supports in the Steam properties. I followed the in-game menu instructions to play with Japanese audio, and it didn't work.
The fact of the matter is that there IS Japanese audio for this game. unless this Playstation game wasn't released in Japan. ERGO, I'm trying to play with Japanese audio.
If that's not possible, fine. The game says it is, tho. I'm trying to figure out whether the game is lying or not. I purchased the game thinking that a game on a Japanese platform that was released in Japan would have Japanese audio available -- even outside Japan -- in 2025.
Therefore, you can't choose Japanese for the audio with Dawn. Adding that would require a lot of work, therefore outside of the scope of the remaster because not added. But who knows, maybe one day it will be done: ask Sony.
However, don’t confuse the national language of a publishing company or a manufacturing company with the international scope of a game. There are many financial, logistical, human and time factors to consider, making it a specialized profession within IT, beyond just the gaming industry which sometimes uses cinema techniques.
Additionally, the base language of the game appears to be English, with English-speaking actors. In this case, everything else is dubbing and translation. Where did you get the idea that this was originally a Japanese-made game in Japanese language?
That being said, there are still some lip-sync bugs that need fixing, issues that, if I remember correctly, weren’t present in the original version. I suspect this might be due to inconsistencies in the volume of 3D assets imported from West, as the problem varies significantly between characters. Alternatively, there could be an issue with the audio engine itself.
In the French audio, Aloy’s voice is the worst in terms of playback quality. I haven’t tried the English version yet, but I’m considering playing my next run in English with French subtitles.
Japanese audio exists for this game, somewhere.
I'm not concerned with lip-syncing being a bit off. Some of the voices are more annoying than some out-of-sync audio would be.
There are instructions on how to change the language in the game itself. They don't change the language. From what I've researched, it has been possible at some time in the past to do exactly what I'm trying to do. Is it not that case any more?

However, if a Japanese audio pack exists somewhere, I am not aware of it. You may follow the instructions you find, but based on what I have read, the Nixxes developer you mentioned never stated that Japanese audio was available, only that if it were, the appropriate procedure should be followed.
In short: it is not available, officially. But if there is a special Japanese audio version, that's another story and the best thing, if you bought it in Japan, is to contact Steam support.
Yea, it's starting to look like it's not available.
But there is a Japanese language pack out there. There's no way there's not one. That's what I'm looking for by making this thread. If it's not possible, it's not possible. You don't THINK it's possible, so thanks. But if it IS possible, I want to use it.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered does include Japanese audio; however, its availability is region-specific. According to the official PlayStation support page, the game offers Japanese voice and text support on both PlayStation 5 and PC platforms.
https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/games/horizon-zero-dawn-remastered/
It's important to note that Japanese audio is typically accessible only through versions of the game purchased from the Japanese storefronts. As stated on PCGamingWiki, the Japanese audio is region-locked to Japanese storefronts.
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Horizon_Zero_Dawn_Remastered
Therefore, if you have a version of the game purchased from a non-Japanese region, it likely does not include Japanese audio files. To access the Japanese audio, you would need to acquire the game through a Japanese platform or storefront.
For a demonstration of the Japanese audio, you can refer to this gameplay video:

Thus you can't have Japanese audio. Not listed, not available, No Japanese version, no Japanese audio. No doubt.
You claimed that japanese audio was listed in the game data, thus according to ChatGPT the only possibility is that you bought a Japanese version in Japan. Otherwise you are mistaken and claiming something you can't have.
Otherwise the Japanese audio version will not solve your problem, the lip sync is worse than in French, and the video is from the original game, with which I had not noticed anything with French audio, it seems to me.
I'll say it again: The Japanese audio exists. I'm looking for a way to use it. You don't know of one. Maybe there isn't one. If not, then fine.
I'm claiming to have followed the instructions IN THE GAME to change the audio. The instructions given BY THE GAME did not work, so I'm looking for a way to do it anyway.
I did specifically mention that I don't care about the audio not syncing up perfectly.
You have to go to Japan and buy it there. Ask Steam and Sony for details about it.
I improved my English a little today.
