horrendous ingame economy
I'm constantly dying because I can't afford the stuff I need to kill bigger machines and complete missions,

so you need ALOT of shards to buy strong weapons ,traps and other crap that allows you to kill big machines , and to get ALOT of shards you need to kill big machines...and what happens if you're low on shards and stuck with crappy weapons ? then what ???

this game should just be called SHARDS, because it seems like this is what the whole gameplay revolves around , either you have enough shards or you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ die...wow great:steamfacepalm:

So, you're looking for a game where you start of the journey and have all the supa-dupa weapons from the start, without doing anything for it?
That's not he game then and in all games I've played, some form of up-level is required.
Unless, you lower the difficult level.
In a lot of cases, the game is already pointing you levels required\recommended, like for clearing the corrupted zones.

Choose story mode. It's like the God mode of 1980's games with infinite lives and resources, to enjoy the story and reach the end.

I don't know what difficulty level you're playing, but I'm currently in a new game + on ultra hard, I've never had this issue before and I have so much shards that I don't even bother picking up mobs anymore unless I need materials.
So, either you do it wrong to kill the mobs, or you're in a difficulty too high for you. In both cases it's a "you" problem, not the game

I'm stuck at the Olin mission where I have to kill those two idiotic machines , which is pretty much impossible with my crappy gear because I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH SHARDS!

I'm literally unable to advance the main story because I don't have enough shards, this is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid
You can get a lot of shards and resources to sell by killing the smaller machines like Watchers, Scrappers and Grazers. Once you have the stealth kill and override you can down them in a few hits without spending any resources.

It's very easy to make shards, just go hunting herds of machine using stealth.
Dude, this game's economics is one of the most siplified. By the end of each of my 3 playthroughs I had over 10000-20000 spare shards and basically full inventory of weapons, outfits & purple upgrades.

those smaller machines barely give any shards , it would take forever to get 800 shards by killing watchers and selling their crappy parts

you need to kill the bigger machines to really start making money in this game, I finally managed to get a purple bow by farm killing those crocodiles , these were like the only machines that gave decent resources and I was able to kill with my crappy fire bow

now that I finally got a good weapon and I'm just gonna farm the hell out of these crocodiles until I get the rest of the purple weapons and then I will continue with the story missions

basically you can't play this game until you're able to deal decent damage with the more expensive gear,

and it doesn't help that most of the bigger machines hang out in packs which is annoying because that makes it harder to kill one of them when they all jump on you, either they hang out in packs or they hang out near other machines...who the f thought this was a good idea? it's like can I just hunt a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ machine in peace without some other machine jumping in and ruining everything ? jesus

i got 0 problems with shards.
The only problem i got is the too small inventory.

I did all side missions and other stuff.
since 20-30 hours game-time i got between 6000-10000 shards and dont know what i should do with it. (got all weapons/armor i need since lvl ~20)
right now at the start from Frozen Wilds

Even a blue bow with hardpoint arrows is well enough to handle most stuff, are you not hitting weak points or something? I think I finished with something around 50k shards on normal playthrough.
Herd machines, even big ones like tramplers, are fairly easy. And also target those shellwalker convoys, they will have a bunch of stuff to sell. Most all collectibles have resource boxes by them, too.

I didn't bother with the side missions much maybe that's why I barely got any shards to get by

Side missions, as well as given you XP, often give you reward boxes, sometimes a skill point, one even gives you a spear damage boost.

I never really thought HZD had a money problem. Of course I do all missions and cauldrons and loot everything in sight, or even not in sight (using focus). I had enough shards to buy all purple weapons once at Meridian. Of course I had to hunt for some machine parts to buy them. Could I have bought all purple outfits at that time? Certainly not, but I did have the purple stealth and protector (melee) outfits.

Ignore the game at your own peril. This meaning side missions (XP + money + skill points). Not getting XP (thus health) can make some mid/later story missions difficult do to low health.

Farming shards, and early XP, in HZD is trivial. Blow up grazers from across the stream at the Nora hunting grounds (fire arrows on canisters). Sell the excess blaze and metal vessels at the merchants that are literally right there. Both sides of the stream. Getting the grazers to respawn is trivial buy running right the edge of the rock outcropping behind you (the ancient armory). In my second playthrough I did this about 7 cycles. Not so much for money but for XP to get skill points earlier than otherwise. Early on, skill level ups are not very many XP points.

edit: Bandit camps are a decent source of shards. Again, a side activity, and you get to meet Nil.

You got it... ;)

I started a regular new game with the remaster. I'm half-way through the main story, have done the beginning of the Frozen Wilds quest line, have almost all of the purple gear and all three DLC bows and I'm always way above 10000 shards. But I'm level 50 already and when I reached Daytower, the first time, I already had a purple outfit and enough shards to immediately buy two purple bows. Besides all the gear, I think I also spent more than 30000 shards on purple mod-boxes already.

Whenever I'm short, I just go hunting machines. You don't get many shards directly but selling all the extra resources including all the useless traps, potions and mods gives you lots of shards to spend. And you can level up quickly too.

The economy in this game is rather simple and it's a bit disappointing that you can max out your gear quite early, but I think it's okay. Forbidden West is better though, in this regard, with it's much bigger selection of Armor and Weapons.

Besides, you can kill pretty much any machine with blue equipment as well. You need the right tactics and a little patience. Use fire, freeze, shock and corruption ammunition to weaken the machines or make them go at each other. Then use a Sharpshoot bow from a safer distance to kill off the remaining machines.
There are several locations where you can easily use corruption arrows to make Snapmaws go at each other. Or go hunting Longlegs. Stun them with Shock ammo and when they fall over, hit the exposed coils on their backs with shock arrows. Even one explosion of those will almost take out that Longleg and also stun any other machine in the area.
When you fight a Thunderjaw, for example, take out the disc launchers with tearblast arrows first! Makes it much easier. Then find cover on higher ground, where it can't reach you, freeze it and then cause lots of damage with sharpshoot arrows. There are several locations where you can farm these machines relatively easy. There's even one in the sacred lands, north of Hunter's Gathering. Find a safe spot on the mountain north of it's position for a relatively easy kill.
In the ravine with two Thunderjaws, west of Free Heap, go high on a ledge on the eastern mountain and shoot the Thunderjaw closer to you with corruption arrows. They'll go at each other and also take out most or all of the smaller machines while they're at it. After that you can just kill of the remaining, damaged machine with freeze bombs and long distance arrows. Get's you a lot of resources, at least 6 purple mods and many shards when you sell all the junk you don't need... :)

Edit: One more thing. You can collect many mods very early in the game as well. There's a campfire east of Rost's place in the Embrace. East of that is the spot where you saved Teb. You'll find 4 Scappers there with two Scrapper heaps. Take them out one by one with a stealthy approach. You'll always find mods there, sometimes purple mods before you even leave the Embrace. They'll re-spawn when you go back to the campfire, so you can do it all over again...

That's easy if you know how ..... First use a longshot bow to pick off the NPCs up high from the upper area where you enter, then use the trip caster and set a bunch of blast traps and then shoot the Corrupters with fire arrows to lure them up the ramp and into the traps and kill them both and then finish off the NPCs at ground level.

Start around the 15:00 mark of this video if you want to see an example
