Stealth cover in tall red brush is flaky?

Is something different about how enemies respond while taking cover in the tall red brush? It seems like they're able to easily locate me after I alert one enemy. It also seems that I can re-activate the cover if I exit and re-enter the brush.

Generally, I did not notice any problems. There was one patch of red grass that for some reason didn't conceal me. It was in the DLC bandit camp near the alarm. Other than that, it seemed to work fine. Is the stealth indicator showing an open eye or a closed one?

The stealth indicator shows eye open when I'm crouching in the bushes and enemies do indeed locate me as if I'm not hidden. The game is on normal difficulty.

The original game didn't seem as intelligent in finding me, but now I often need to change cover to remain hidden. No more camping.

I haven't personally noticed a difference in general, though I have had 2 instances where the stealth mechanic simply bugged out and didn't hide me at all. Usually if I'm being spotted in high grass, it's something incidental like standing on a very slightly raised bit of ground (making Aloy high enough to protrude over the grass, even if it's barely noticeable to the player).

I had a really weird one today doing The Mountain That Fell quest. Normally I sneak through and whistle in 4 watchers and just sneak from grass patch to grass patch to avoid the 3 Stalkers and 3 Glinthawks. In the first bush I whistle in a watcher but he's not quite to the patch of grass but the Silent Kill symbol shows so I hit the button but there was a boar between me and the watcher that I couldn't even see so instead of a Silent Kill it does a light melee attack on the boar so I end up having to fight 4 watchers, 3 Stalkers and 3 Glinthawks ,,,,,, What a mess that turned out to be
