[BUG ] Vegetation/Grass Streaming Popping Issue [UNFIXED]
The game shows a significant vegetation and grass popping issue, even at a close range or distance from the player. The problem is especially noticeable when traversing on a mount. Reportedly, this issue has been present since the game's release on PC and PS5/PS5 Pro, and post-launch patches haven't resolved it yet.

The visual and asset-streaming issue described is distracting and can be immersion-breaking in some situations.

Is anyone also noticing these issues?

-----

NOTE: Originally, I solved a non-related texture LOD issue affecting some objetcs by resetting/clearing the display driver shader cache.

However, the popping problem of some plants/grass at close range from the player is different and still occurs after resetting the display driver shader cache. The fully detailed 3D model of some plants or grass only appears when the player is very close to them.

UPDATE 5 (as of 2/10/2025):
  • The asset streaming popping issue at close range from the player during traversal still occurs after installing Patch 1.5.
  • It seems that Nixxes Software has end post-launch support. The game will likely remain as it is, so do not expect any new patches.

Downgrade your Nvidia drivers. I'm using 560.94 but I also heard that 561.09 works well too

Forbidden West has the same texture problems using the latest drivers

Proof this is working for me

Hi. I'm using an AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX, but thank you anyway. I solved the texture LOD issue affecting some objetcs by resetting/clearing the display driver shader cache.

However, the popping problem of some plants/grass at close range from the player is different and still occurs after resetting the display driver shader cache. It's like if the 3D full-detailed model of some plants/grass only pops in when you're right close to them. So, I need to investigate the latter "issue" further. Perhaps, this is intended asset streaming behavior for some game's assets.

I updated my post accordingly.

I have these problems since the release of the game and it's horrible. No solution worked so far. Look at these 2 videos:

Hi. Thank you for recording and sharing these videos. While the popping at close range issue I experienced is not as severe as it looks in your videos, they clearly show the nature of the reported issue and what I tried to describe with words. Videos are always more effective, so thanks again. The issue intensity might also depend on the specific area or location, just guessing.

It seems an asset-streaming issue. I'm running the game with an i9-12900K, RX 7900 XTX, 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4-3600 CL14 XMP, and the game is installed on an M.2 PCIe SSD.

Are you also using an SSD?

Yes, SSD and I even checked it if everything is alright with it and it seems everything is fine.

Thank you. So, it seems likely a game issue.

If possible, could you share a save-game file(s) near the location of your videos so I can check the same sequence you recorded and see if I get the same results?

I have the same issue, you can replicate it on any location, don't need a save game to see it. I started seeing it after patch 1.1 but it may have been there earlier, just not as pronounced.

Seems like a glitch where every object outside of Aloys "bubble" warps to a lower LOD version, drastically.

same problem here..
medion_no Nov 11, 2024 @ 8:48pm
I noticed this since 1.0 with latest nvidia drivers.

Yeah same here. Need to make a bug report ticket.

Same happens on the ps5, even on ps5 pro... so, its a game issue, Although I must say that something similar happens in Forbidden west and it was never fixed.

Thanks for sharing. Yes, if the asset-streaming popping issue at a close distance also occurs on PS5, is likely a game issue.

Did you also submit a support request/ticket?

From my testing, the asset (grass/plants...) streaming popping issue at close range from the player during traversal still occurs after installing Patch 1.2. Please, continue reporting your experience pre- and post Patch 1.2.

I noticed similar issues when using DLSS on my 3070, but setting 'Negative LOD Bias' to Allow in the 3D settings tab in Nvidia Control Panel seemed to fix it for me. I tried rolling back to older drivers but that didn't help for me.

This is still going on :(
