Building without roads.
I am working on my first serious city, screenshots on my profile.

I have an elevated part, next to a lake I made.
I would like to put some parks there, but without roads so that the sims have to walk there.

Problem is that everything has to be connected to a road.
I tried dirt roads, but I would like to see NO cars.

Any ideas?

you can use the pedestrian paths and then use https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2389414419&searchtext=zone to make it zonable for building.
You will have problems with garbage, deaths and emergency vhicals so would make all pedestrian pathes with a slow speed limit so you have less trafic to deal with foreing ped paths are the way to go.

Do you own the 'Parklife DLC'?

With it you can create park area's. These area's have a 'main gate' where cims enter the park. Only the gates of the park have to be connected to a road. The rest of the park (including all kinds of buildings) can be placed alongside paths instead of roads.

If you do not have the DLC, then you can make it look like a park, by placing trees, paths and other stuff, but you won't get many cims there. The park from the DLC is considered an attraction (a place to visit) cims go to. But a decorated island (as good as it might look) will only be visited by cims traveling from A to B, with the park being somewhere across their route.

As said, you can create a park if you have dlc or you can use invisible road

I built some parks and tourist attractions on a short piece of unconnected road, then used paths to get the cims to them. The problem with this was when there was a death at such sites, the hearses couldn't get to them.

You could use TM:PE to restrict traffic on those roads, but I don't recall if hearses and other city services can still use them or not (someone else could answer this one).

That invisible roads mod, coupled with TM:PE might do the trick.

Cheers,
Chris.

I don't have DLC's yet, so that option is out for now.

I guess I have to settle for a dirt road, or an invisible one.
I will play with that mod tonight and see how it looks.

I might try an invisible bus road, since emergency vehicles use those if needed.
