Many thanks for the reply and the guide its really useful.
If you try bulldozing yourself, or buildings abandoned, it will go under the limit, but still say you can't build anymore of that type.
Maybe go back to a previous saved game and continue, knowing you are near the limit, then do things to recover the limit some more.
What you can do is avoid pretty much anything draggable - especially electricity cables and pipes, and replace them with mods that automatically distribute water and electricity city wide.
Cutting out nodes in roads and tracks may extend a playthrough a little bit, but keep in mind vehicles change lanes only in nodes.
Even things that do not seem it would contribute to the segment/node limit do, such as some parks, as they contain inbuilt pedestrian paths on it.
Yea this saves the most nodes and segments, delete all power lines and water pipes, and turn off the need for them with a mod.
