Pedestrian zone breaks parks effect
Hi all,

I realize that I have an issue in my city since last DLC. The entertainment effect provided by parks, unique buildings, ... disappear as soon as I place a pedestrian zone on it. And everything return to normal if I remove the pedestrian zone.

It's quite a huge problem to raise value of a district and of course, it makes all the plazas useless.

I use a lot of mods, but I've already spent hours to update them all with new fix and/or new version. I've didn't have any message error and mods are seems all compatible according to the community.

Did anybody have the same issue ?

Thanks for the help.

I think that the Pedestrian Zone by itself already gives the entertainment effect. Think of it, a nice area where you have no stinking cars or trucks, a nice neighborhood to live in. It's a park already practically by itself. What does the land value option say in the area where you have the pedestrian zone?

Just because mods are compatible with the new version (a.k.a. don't cause errors) doesn't mean they can't have issues. There's a known bug that resets the park visitor count every time you load a save, but I haven't noticed anything else in vanilla.

Yeah sure, pedestrian zone is nice place to live and should be entertaining by itself.

Land value is not high at all despite all parks and plazas around. I've also tested to remove pedestrian zone over entertainment buildings and land value immediately raise. In addition, entertainment value raise from minimum to maximum.

I've also made a test with another city, adding a pedestrian zone above any parks or unique building and checking affect through info panel. Results is the same, the entertainement value immediately drops.

I'm aware of that. I've just made this precision to let poeple know that I don't have outdated and/or crappy mods.

Perhaps, people with mods or even without any have also the same behavior.

I also use a lot of mods (which are all up to date now and don't throw any errors at me) and experience the same issue.
Starting a new city doesn't help either, same problem. It's really annoying. I'm thinking about not using pedestrian zones at all for now, until someone finds out what it is and how to fix it.

I've updated all my mods and as far as I know I use only mods that are listed as compatible by the community. But the issue is still here.

What I've noticed is that I also have the garbage issue in my pedestrian zone. Perhaps it's somehow related.

I will do a test this week-end without any mods if it changes something.

Just FYI in case you haven't noticed, the effect on parks is no longer radial when it's inside a pedestrian zone. Instead, the entertainment value is shared and averaged out over the entire PZ. Make a decent sized zone, and then build a bunch of parks in one corner and watch the entertainment of the whole area ascend as a unit.

So what you might have been seeing was that with only one or two parks throughout the zone, the average effect was minimal and you had orange-toned buildings (not fire engine red,) but if you had built a few more, it would have gone teal eventually.

The problem is i have like.. a dozen parks in a fairly small pedestrian area and the buildings around them are still red. But when i click on the info panel for the pedestrian zone itself the entertainment value is extremely high.

Same here, I have a lot of parks in my pedestrian zone but buildings remains red. In addition, if I add a park on outside border of the zone, building near the park turn to blue.

It seems that parks that are placed in the zone don't have any effect.

But the weirdest is that I also have the same behavior than @Hamws, my entertainement value in the info panel of the pedestrian zone is really high.

I am experiencing the same problem. The entertainment value of the infopanel in the pedestrian zone is high. But in the entertainment view all buildings are red. Also I don't seem to be getting any land value bonus and the buildings are not growing. Also, new buildings in that zone are downgraded due to lack of land value.

Is this also the case if you add the launch options -noWorkshop and -disableMods and start a new city as a test?

How To Set Launch Options
  • Right-click on the game title under the Library in Steam and select Properties.
  • Enter the launch options you wish to apply in the box (be sure to separate each code with a space). Should look like this:
    -noWorkshop -disableMods
  • Close the game's Properties window and launch the game.

Hi,

I've finally do some test. New city works as intended even with all my mods. But all my saves don't work properly... I can say goodbye to all my old cities. :(

Not a drama, but it would have been so nice to transform normal cities by adding new pedestrian neighboorhoods.

Time for a new beginning.

I tried to find the cause by turning the mods on and off individually. The result was that "81 Tiles 2 TESTING" was the cause. If this is disabled, cities built with the mod will work correctly. I will try to find a mod with similar functionality that works correctly instead of "81 Tiles 2 TESTING".

FYI, 81 Tiles 2 has been fixed. Entertainment works properly now. :)

you probbably figured this out by now. but the pedestrian area has it's own entertainment value. wich is a certain value depening on what's in the pedestrian area.
the reason the entertainment value of a building goes away is because it's added to the pedestrian area's entertainment value.

the reason i am here is trying to figure out why it's so overpowered.
i got a tiny little park as a pedestrian area. and it now has 1730 entertainment value / cell.

and it has 3000+ cells.
i can't even get people to stay away with dozens of toll booths.
