Should I still be building low density zones?

Well into the game should I entirely focous on High density zones or should I evenly spread the zoning? Is there a difference in the way the city will work if I just zone High density?

It's generally best to have a mix of high and low density - it seems to make the RCI demand more consistent.

Study the building types. You'll see low density has different characteristics from high. For example, high density residential attracts young adult while low density will have more children and seniors. These factors will effect the demands they make on education and other things.
As stated above, a mix is a good idea.

Looking at the description on the tooltip they attract families which bring in children who then go to school and get educated. High density attracts young adults only so if you have only high density, then your population will get old and die and not reproduce thus slowing down growth.

You need all the zones in the city, but remember that low dense res prefers low dense commercial, and high dense res prefer high dense commercial. I haven't quite figured out the ratio so I try to do half/half low/high commercial which seems to work okay. You need high density residential to feed the university and the office zones, but low density residential to fill the normal industrial jobs.

And whatever you do, never place your residential on the road between commercial and industrial. It just creates a traffical nightmare and people will hate you.

All high density is definately possible. In fact, cims don't seem to ACTUALLY have a preference. Been testing quit a few things, this one included. And you should just zone whatever fits your "Ultimate plan"
