City map keeps moving

On my laptop, I have to hold down the CTRL key when placing roads, bulldozing & almost every other function just to keep the map still.
If I forget, I'm moved completely to the edge of the screen & have to edge scroll back to where I was. Only holding down the CTRL key keeps the map in place.
Needless to say, this makes building a City really difficult.

Is there a fix for this problem? I've tried using a wireless mouse, but it's the same. On my desktop computer, the map stays in place -but why does it move on the laptop?

Is there a special setting I should be using that I'm not?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Do you have a camera mod installed - particularly one that 'zooms to mouse pointer'? If so, it could be that.

No. No mods of any kind in the game. This happened for me from the first day it was released & I only found out by accident on my laptop, that if I hold down the CTRL key I at least can build roads. I was just hoping by now someone else would have had the same problem & knew a 'fix' for it. Thank you anyway.

I once had this problem in a similar game... it was my joystick that i had forgot was hoocked up, and it was leaning up against something :)

Edge scrolling can be disabled in one of the options menus.
Pretty much all controls can be rebound too to your likings, also available in one of the game options menus.

Still can't get the game to play correctly. I tried the edge scrolling thing -but I can't place roads unless I do it while holding down the CTRL key. As you can imagine, this isn't fun, so I gave up. Haven't played in months. I'm happy some were able to get their problem fixed.

I think you can fix this by switching to fullscreen instead of borderless window (or the other way around)
Option>graphics>display mode

Thank you BGK for trying to help, but this didn't work either. (I tried both ways) All this time I never found a solution. The map moving as soon as I click on a road happens on more than one laptop of mine. I can only seem to keep the map still if I hold down the CTRL key at the same time I'm placing a road. So annoying & impossible to do for any length of time. It's a shame as I really looked forward to this game & from the very beginning, I couldn't play it. Thanks again for the suggestion.
