This vs. XL 2012
I have Cities XL 2012, and read a lot of controversial articles regarding entire Cities franchise (2011, 2012, XL, XXL etc) being actually the same game sold under different names. Same buggy and unbalanced in many cases.

Having played XL 2012 for some time, I can say it IS unbalanced; missing many obvious buildings/building types (e.g. - beach facilities) and not having enough depth with others (e.g. - where are those entertainment buildings with bonuses better than Medium? With bonuses for level 3/4 citizens?

Is this game (Skylines) any different from XL? Worth buying if I have XL?

I've played Cities XL and I'm still playing this.
How can I put this simply enough?
There has never been a better city building simulator than this ever.
It surpasses everything that has come before it on so many levels.
It's worth getting I assure you. If you enjoyed Cities XL you will not be disappoined by this.

yes def worth buying. I played XL. The cities look nice in XL but lack soul. Cities skylines maybe doesn't look as good but with mods you can improve the graphics a bit. Mods will let you build a city on a huge scale (as in land area), you can look at it in first person, terraform the land and lots more. Each person in the city can be followed and there's a great transport system (the biggest challenge is transport in skylines). I guess it is missing a big variety of buildings but its new and there are plenty of modders making buildings for the game so that is changing. Not sure if its got more depth than XL but probably has although it's not hard to get a big city up and running.

I think its great fun and also addicitive if you like this kind of game. There is more to come with tunnels and more improvements after that no doubt plus it's cheap :)

Cities Skylines isn't made by the same people that made cities xl. So they're basically nothing alike.

Cities XL and Cities Skylines are made by completely different people and are not related. Cities Skylines is in fact the successor of "Cities in Motion".

What do you mean by "XL 2012 victory"?

Also, is Cities Skylines free of XL's bugs such as game not using multiprocessor power (only loading single CPU) and so on?

Skylines is very well optimised for using CPU, GPU, etc. Even though I've abused the game with over 1,400 subscribed workshop items, it's still working on my old computer!! As you install more assets, games take longer to load, but once in game it seem to run fine. I'm still trying to wrap my head around how they make such an extensive game run well despite the crazy number of workshop items I've installed. Just be sure to check you have decent hardware before buying, as Skylines requires a fairly modern graphics card.
