You do not need a mod to switch road-direction
Hello all,

I have seen at least a dozen threads asking how to change the direction of one way roads as well as YT videos which explain that you need the mod and that the lack of this feature from the devs was a huge oversight. In them, almost without fail, people suggest the Extended Road Mod. You do not need this mod to switch lane direction! All you need to do is use the "Upgrade" tool ("!") and right click on the section of road which you would like to change the direction of. That's it. Now, I haven't downloaded that particular mod and it very well may have other functions, but if all you want to do is switch the direction of your one-way-ers, there's already a feature in the game for it.

On the same lines, you don't need the mod which changes the color of your transit lines in order to change the color of your transit lines, by the way. That's another unnecessary mod that I've noticed is quite popular.

Just thought I'd send out this PSA so that players use every function of the game to their full potential and so they don't download mods which they don't need.

The upgrade tool CAN BE USED to change the direction, you simply right-click the road...

Most of those videos are outdated.

It's been a feature since day one. How can any videos of CS be outdated anyways if the game has only been around for 1.25 months?

Because many of those videos were made by reviewers before the release and at that point it wasn't possible and so that mod was created and almost immediately made redundant when Colossal implemented the feature. However some users still use the mod as they prefer the little more control over the action you get from the mod.

I recall it being patched in after release, at any rate, it was not part of my copy on day one. I remember going to twitch and cussing about it with few streamers.

Looking through the records, I see that it was added on March 19th with patch 1.0.6b. Not "Day One" as I'd previously assumed. Apologies.

The ERU mod was created on March 15th, making it relevant for 4 days. Pedantry aside, I just wanted to let everyone know.

It was added in the first patch to allow you to change ground level roads. And the latest patch fixed elevated roads.

I still find the mod easier to use than the vanilla upgrade. Most of the time with vanilla, I have the road going the wrong, and I have to "upgrade" it to go the right way. Doesn't happen with the mod.
But that's just me.

Several times I wanted to change the direction of one way freeway roads but there is no upgrade option for freeways allowing change of direction. Does anyone have a link to the directional change mod?
Shacklestein Apr 17, 2015 @ 8:37pm
Right click works fine for the freeways. You don't even have to have the same type of road selected, the only thing that matters is that roadbuilding is set to upgrade mode. You can even use the gravel road if you wish. Just be careful not to LEFT click if you're using a different road than the one you want to direction-switch…
