Also try to put more space between them if you can.
By the size of that industry, 1 port would be enough and this would not be an issue.
Though other than that picture making my day, there clearly is an issue there with the efficiency of those ports.
- It is too far gone for me to have separate cargo/commuter loops, I would have to rebuild my city.
- I have four cargo stations, and six commuter, basically mixed up (=bad)
- I only have the default two lines on the map, which I have double tracked. I guess I could try to dedicate each track to a station type, though I'm not sure if it's possible (I build right up to the tracks and am unwilling to take out whole rows of skyscrapers)
- I never build rail/road crossings, roads only go over or under
- The basic problem (aside from lack of cargo/commuter split) is that the trains queue at the edge of the map right back onto the one and only railway junction. It feels like it has got past the point where anything I do would make any difference, as there are trains that sit there for weeks on end.
I have a very large and effective highway network, with lots of complex custom interchanges, but I am a total train noob.
Im starting a new map/city now though, since we now have 81tiles!! lol im rethinking things and spreading stuff out with more openspaces
