Layout ideas/tips?

Hi!

This is my first city building game ever and I bought this game 3 hours ago and I'm still kinda noob
I got most of things under control in my first town area and I'm expanding it now

I want to do high density residental buildings for a bigger/luxury district but I really don't know how to make the roads any good

Maybe you more veteran city builders have any suggestions? :D ^^

I would personally hold off on high density until you have expanded the map and have more money. The biggest thing I would say is have multiple one lane high capacity roads running in and out of your future city, with various round abouts for people to get off the one lane roads and onto the side streets.

What should I do with this area above the bridge?
Just more low density blocks or industrial?

Basically, your main arteries should be your highways. Branching out from your highways should be regional connector roads (6 lanes) flowing perpendicular to your highways. Then, off of those, build smaller roads (4 lane roads) connecting the connector roads at their extremities away from the highway. After that, fill in the space with your 2-lane roads. Do not connect your two lane roads to highways, ever.

Note that while you are given a 2x2km space to start your city, once you have more room, you can go back and completely redesign your original space. In my city, the "original town" which I started is all but completely gone, buried under high rises and a highway.

Haha i totally facepalmed myself when I realised :D

I changed the main road to a highway and it also looks a lot better :D
