Game like this but Medieval?
Does it exist? I already know about Banished but I'm looking for something more along the lines of this.

A traffic simulator, but in the middle ages.
Good luck with NO trucks, NO trains, NO metro's, NO ships, NO powerplants, NO sewage, NO waterpipes, NO education, NO healthcare, NO firebrigades, NO police etc.

In fact, there would be nothing to port if you kept to actuall technology in medieval times.
Not very good suggestion, cities skylines in medieval times...

Obviously I meant something along the lines of building a working civilization but with a medieval spin to it. Every point you tried to make is blaintantly obvious and didn't need to be included in your pretentious reply. Thanks though.

there were trade routes with trade caravans, there were ships, there was sewage and pipes, there was water power and wind power which was used to do work, there was education (ever hear of alexandria?), there were most things you find today in regards to civilation and society.

sure they didn't have all the conveniences we take for granted today, like being able to travel across an ocean in a day, or being able to cross most countries by land in just a day or two. sure their meals were often not as hot as ours or their homes as cool in summer or warm in winter, but to say they had no city infrastructure, engineering or space planning is just, and the most polite way to put this, is ignorant.

would it make a good game? who knows, but it's not as poor a suggestion as you make out.

(edit: typo)

Civilization V

Civ 5 is very different from this game. A citybuilder is more about planning the layout of a city then conquering the world.
Maybe the OP means games like Pharaoh and Caesar. These are citybuilding games (these are old games, so not even sure if work on Win8.1). I don't know of any citybuilder games set in a medieval setting besides Banished.
A game like Tropico or sim city could be fun in medieval setting imo.

I think you're looking for something more like Civcity: Rome
Conversion of Skylines to a medieval concept would mean far more than reskinning/retexturing every single feature in the game besides making rail and air transport obsolete.
I like the idea of a medieval city builder, but it would require an entirely different game, not a conversion of this one.
Banished or Civcity is the closest you'll get from more recent game releases, otherwise you'd have to look farther back in time to the Sierra studios series of city builders, the best of which imo was Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom (Chinese theme)

Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom, set in Medieval China. Banished is the best, of course. There is also Stronghold, though some of the later titles were rather poor. Grand Ages: Medieval is a title in the works, do not know when it will be reelased though. Also, the Anno series, except the last, futuristic one.

Anno 1404, Caesar III, Pharaoh, Zeus, Empire: Rise of the Middle Kingdoms, Banished, the Settlers series all have elements of City Building to one degree or another.

But none are like Sim City or Cities: Skylines.

Possible the nearest would be Medieval Mayor by Tilted Mill Entertainment although that one is stuck in Development Hell and is not likely to see the light of day anytime soon.

Anno 1404, Grand Ages: Rome, possibly? Not medieval but closest to I can think of besides Banished.

There are a few that would fit in:
Anno 1404, 1503 and 1602
1404 is the newest out of these, and one of the best of the series, too.

The Settlers: Rise of an Empire; The Settlers: Paths To A Kingdom
I'd personally prefer Rise of an Empire, as it's from before UBI started all that UBI Launcher / "let's dumb it all down" stuff.

Banished
Goes without saying.

Medieval Lords: Build, Defend, Expand
Probably the closest match you can get to a "C:S in the Middle Ages" game. It's a little dated, though.

Caesar / Pharaoh series is what you want.

Age of Empires or Age of Empires II is *sort of* like this game. I mean, you can play a "sandbox"-type mode and build a medieval town with working villagers. But building the town isn't really the primary goal, the primary goal is reaching victory conditions which are often defeating an opposing civilization. You probably won't find a medieval game without war being a major influence, so you won't find anything quite like this game.

If it is not Banished your looking for, then I don't know. It seems the right choice for building a civilization. The city building in Banished is as much a civilization as the city is in Cities skylines.
I think you should be more specific regarding your wish. I agree with #1 that the main difference between banished and CS is trafic management.
