The hardware requirements are insane for this game
i have a notebook with following specs:
GTX860M 2G maxwell
i7 4710HQ
16G RAM
128 SSD + 1TB HDD

Nvidia Geforce experience just recommends me setting everything to low for this game.
I am sure I'm using the dedicated video card, but the game is not smooth at all. Even I just want to play on 1080p and set everthing to low, the game is very lag (around 20 fps). Now I am playing at 1360*768 on a 17 inch display with everything on low.

Does this game and this graphics really require such a high-end computer? I bought this laptop several months ago and this is the only game that performance is so, so bad. I played bioshock, dota2, skyrim, EU4, civilization 5 and civilization BE. Those games performed just well with everything maxed out.

Wait until your city has 200k pop, then you'll see why the requirements are this high. :)

Civ V is turn based - The only time the engine is running overtime is between turns.

so what? hah? where have I said the opposite?
if a game runs with a proper speed, it runs whenever it does anything.

allrighty guys, think a bit before you start bashing him.
Civ V has quite resource-needy, so is Skyrim. If someone is able to run those games properly, he should be expecting a city manager to also run properly.

No.... Just no.

Comparing Apples and Oranges (as per usuall on the Intarwebz).

I could run Skyrim flat out on a 1090T + HD4890 1GB (with the original textures, not the HD one's).
That also isn't a simulation comparable to Cities....
Neither is Civ.

You are trying to race the Dakar with a Ferrari.
Or sail the Volvo Ocean race with a Dutch Kotter (type of sailing trade ship).

I pitty the fools who compate apples with oranges...:Nutcracker:

What do you experienced guys say - how well will the brand new Macbook Pro be able to run the game?

The specs:

CPU: 2.6GHz 6‑core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 4.5GHz, with 12MB shared L3 cache

RAM: 16GB of 2666MHz DDR4 onboard memory, configurable to 32GB or 64GB of memory

GPU: AMD Radeon Pro 5300M with 4GB of GDDR6 memory and automatic graphics switching
Intel UHD Graphics 630, configurable to AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with 4GB of GDDR6 memory or AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with 8GB of GDDR6 memory
