Dead people and abandoned houses...
Just like the title says.. I was having a great time with skylines untell my city became overan with abondoned houses and dead people... I have creamatoriums and graveyards on every corner and they still wont pick up the dead people! When I log in I spend my whole time demolishing houses and trying to get the creamatoriums to pick up the dead people... It seems to be getting worse even though I literally have like 20 places for dead people to go.

I cant find any other problems with water polution or traffic...

Other then these two issues the game is awesome.

Is this a bug or just my crappy design?

my thinking is if its not a traffic issue you are not giving it enuf time. try not to fixate on it and build in another area an issue many have discussed is mass death which mostly is due to the timing of the area build I get big flucuations in population during these periods but it always recovers. Oh and I get massive dead people icons but I do nothing and they just go away occasionally I will get aboned house but mostly infrequent

Mass die-offs happen when you zone big areas of RES at the same time. All the people move in and are about the same age. Don't ask me why, but it just is. Zone in stages with the game running, much easier to manage.

Crematoriums are only as efficient as your traffic flow- and they are much slower to load dead people than the trash trucks can pickup trash. There are mods that can help you balance this, but it's usually a traffic issue in my city.

Ok I'll look into the mods... Thanks.

I've found that ALL utilities aren't realistically represented with respect to the population size of a city. My city of 100k has probably 20 death-care related services, and 15 of them are from the mod called "Better Crematorium" which is exactly as it sounds.

make sure your houses aren't near noisy areas people will die of noise pollution (lol i know stupid huh) also make sure your water is not polluted or houses near pollution this will make people sick and die. don't have any commercial areas near your residental areas, trains, subways, highways or anything that causes noise. this is the main cause of why a lot of people die noise pollution...

Good tips thanks.. gonna check out that better Creamatorium mod..

Well I tried the better Creamatorium mod and no dice...

I have almost zero noise polution where all the deaths are happening... traffic is good and no polution in the water...

WTF is going on?

It's like worse then the Black plague in this game.. "BRING OUT YA DEAD!"

Again just logged in demolished all the abandoned buildings and put down a few more creamatoriums and before I could blink I had another 20 abandoned buildings... and more dead people then WWII.

It's to bad this kind of thing was my pet peve in Sim City and its even worse in Skylines...

Oh well thanks for the advice.. I guess I'll put this one on the shelf for a while.

No need to... this game is more about balance and patience than any other building games I guess... (I say I guess cause I haven't played sim city since the 2000 edition)

I have a city of 125k residents, I have no mods for crematoriums, I use no mods to make my life easyer, and it works just fine...
I had a full Wave of abandonned houses cause of low land value... Fine, swallowed it, built more parks, lost some residential areas...

If you seed your city slowely and count more on birth ratio than on influx for your population you will get it on the right track...
For 125k I have less crems and cemetaries as you do, but as you do not mention your city size, hard to compare. I have a death ratio of around 450 per week and never do I have any huge spike.

Then it's up to you... are you giving up ? or up for a challege ? your game your call
Have a nice day
hearses are just idiots in this game, thats why my friend!

Can anyone advise if all the hearses from the crematorium do actually deploy? It always says 2/9 or 3/9. Also, why does the crematorium not look after the buildings within its vicinity? A crematorium can send a hearse from one end of the map to another even though, there is already a crematorium at the target location. (Traffic is not a problem).

edit: typo

because of the fact a hearse has 10 places to fill in the car before going back to it's original spot, it's pretty hard to understand the way it chooses it's road.
Aknowledge that dead bodies are there before you see your blinking logo. When you see it it means that some time already passed before it could be picked up, but more likely if you see a hearse going by that very house and it does not go there it's either because he's responding to an other demand, or the demand you are looking after is already in the list of an other hearse.

Imagine the calculations needed if at each new dead or each body picked all your hearses would need a new calculation to decide where to go ? dunno again if our common PC could handle that much, as the game is already pretty demanding the way it's designed

You haven't let some watertower get polluted by being too close to industry?
