Compared to my 110k city, I have a far better bus ratio, but knowing the map you play on ;-p it might not be the best idea to get better bus going into roads.
Damn I struggle with trains as well. Some seems to make it work wonders. Is that because it's the best way to get from A -> B and it's an unserviced area.
But I guess depending of the map (river crossing unable to be done by metro at some places for instance) you can get better trains results... and we serve areas well enough with metro ? rendering trains not that efficient ?
And why do I feel a new guide is poking it's nose on the corner lol
I usually reduce funding on buses to 50%, and max out metro funding.. this way busses *almost* squeak out a profit..
From memory and my latest city.
Pop:200k
Bus:12k(100 lines at least)
Metro:10k.(probably around 80lines)
all others, not worth remembering :)
Due to me never having the space I want, I tend to only use bus for my loops/feeder lines and metro for all long runs. No passenger trains, just cargo.
I also use airports/harbours to bring in tourists but it's not something I rely on for profit.
The real problem is effectiveness. I am not sure that I am making right choices considering placement of bus stops and design of routes in regard to what I am trying to achieve. My goal would be to reduce car trafic, but there is no effective way to monitor the volume of car traffic expect installing the no-despawn mod and just look at it.
So when I see a hundred people running into my subway station, can I deduct that those people would have taken a car instead?
To simplify: We would need to see where the most people are going to and from and when clicking on a car we should not only see its route (with the traffic tool mod) but also the lenght of its route and the possible bus and metro routes and their length. Then we could check out many cars and see where we need to improve on our public transport infrastructure.
tl;dr: No way, José!
Now i'm focused on public transportation.. And this is so pissing me off.. In a city of 40k! I can only reach at max 6k passengers! Are we serious? I just reworked all the ****ing transports:
busses feeding metro stations, and metro stations feeding train stations.. No way to do better than 6k.. Any tips? Please help!!
Wow, just wait a sec... Did you notice that I told to Maestro that with near 5% he was on the lowend of what CO expect to be a decent mass transport ??? you have 40k city and 6k peeps using public transport ??? which is a more than decent ratio for that matter.
and bigger city means better mass transport or else... big mess around...
But solving your traffic issues with how you design things is what you need. You won't ever solve that part with public transport (or maybe only if you design a city with offices and commercial zones placed at correct locations ?) As soon as are using industries you'll need better roads systems anyway.
For the Public transport it seems you have figured it enough due to your results
