Games like Cities:Skylines but with Ancient architecture?
The City-Building genre really starts to grow on me thanks to Cities:Skylines. But, I would love to build an ancient city, a city like Rome, or some germanic villages. Maybe even old towns in the Victorian Era or colonies in America. Is there a game where this is possible?

Nothing that is more or less the same gameplay as Skylines, buuut... you could look at the old Caesar III game. Dated graphics, but really enjoyable. In a similar vein, Pharaoh was good, too. You can also check out Children of the Nile.

theres themed city builders out there, most fairly old and a very different gameplay. i'm not sure if something like ceasar 3 or pharao is what your looking for.

Maybe someone will make an ancient city total conversion for Cities: Skylines.

I was actually discussing this with a fellow professor. I teach 3D modeling at a University in Oklahoma, and thought of making an assignment where students create 3 buildings from a set period in time to bring into the game. Seeing as my classes get around 20 students at a time, that's 60 buildings each semester. Think of the possibilities!

given enough time, im sure there will be themed asset collections with accompaning mods(can't have those aquaducts run underground can we XD).

Someone did suggest a possible future DLC which would change the era, something I think would be very interesting. Personlly I like managing the public transport and cant really see how a citysim would be that interesting without it. Now a future pack similar to what they did with Simcity, THAT would be cool!

how do you think all those big ancient city's managed their traffic? would be quite interesting to me. i think water would become far more important, rivers where the highways of the ancient world. i can imagine this getting very interesting.

Well certainly I know that medieval London had it's fair share of jams so yes, i'm not discounting the playability of it. Just would be on a smaller and slower scale.

If the developers did something like this as a DLC I would buy it.

Like an industrial/victorian age conversion pack.

Check out Caesar 3, very good city build from 1999. Set in Roman times.

Caesar 3 wasn't bad, but I seem to remember that once you figured out an efficient layout that met all of the citizens needs, you just had to repeat that pattern across the city which eventually made the game very boring.
