Smarter AI traffic/pathfinding?
I just going to start by saying that I hate the current level of intelligence that the AI traffic doesn't seem to have. All too often I see a line of cars that's a mile long waiting to turn despite the fact that there are at least two turn lanes, sometimes three, with the other lanes empty.

Maybe i'm just bad at designing roads and public trasport but when I posted this I have a 70k pop city and about 12k of those use the public transport and I still get these problems. Is this a problem with the AI itself or is it just me? Is there a mod that increases the intelligence of the traffic?

The pathfinding is IMHO extremly near to real life. Some guides out there are clarifying this and give pretty neat examples.
BUT I don't just want to bash you or anything alike!
Take some advice:
1. Build like you see roads around in your own city where you live. (thats pretty general and wont help you right away but you may see the point I want to mention)
2. There are guides out there that explain the way of good street-building, search them on the "guide section"
3. There can be subjective issues with traffic lights, you can get a mod (if you want to) to enable or disable them at will. (search for "no more traffic lights" in the workshop)
I hope you are a bit more pleased and don't want to release your anger on me ;P

I've gone over the guides before and I have a mod for the traffic lights, but i'll look at the guides again.

If you have 1 long traffic line, figure out where the traffic is going and build a road from the traffic jam directly to the area where the traffic is going (especially useful for industrial areas). It will look ugly but should help traffic flow somewhat.

One thing that is different about this game from the sim city games is that vehicles don't take traffic congestion into consideration. For example, if you create a new road to provide more access to an area, either it won't be used, or everyone will jump to the new one and abandon the other, creating a new traffic jam. Traffic in this game flows more like electricity than traffic, only taking the shortest path by distance. In rl people would distribute among the possible paths.

Fixing your traffic problems is much harder in this game than previous ones. You can't just provide options, you have to force people to do what you want.
