Game resolution doesn't change.
When I go into the graphics options of Cities: Skylines and change the resolution, the game doesn't adjust it. It only asks me if I would like to keep the new resolution or not. It doesn't matter if I choose a high or low resolution, all graphics stay the same and there is no switch between resolutions. I would like to play the game on my 40 inch LCD tv, but on the default resolution of 1920x1080 things like text get really small.

My specs are:

Windows 8.1 Pro x64 (fully updated)
AMD A10-6700 3,7 GHz Quad-core APU
AMD Radeon HD 8670D Graphics
8GB Corsair DDR3 Memory
Samsung LE40B650 LCD TV
Cities: Skylines game version: 1.0.6b through Steam

The mediacenter and the TV are connected with an HDMI cable. I'm running AMD Catalyst Omega 14.12 graphics drivers. My default resolution in Windows is 1920x1080@60Hz with DPI scaling on 150%.

Any ideas?

I tried the 1.0.7b beta patch, that didn't help. Forcing a lower screen resolution in the Steam launch options didn't help either..

Force game to run in directx9 mode and set resolution.

or

set desktop resolution to lower resolution first then start the game and set game to lower resolution.

I tried the following launch options in Steam without any luck:

-dx9
-d3d9
-dxlevel 90
-dxlevel 95
-dxlevel 98

Also changing the resolution first in Windows to 1600x900 doesn't seem to have any effect on the text size in-game for example for the text ballons when you hover over buttons. Which is really weird, because the in-game text should really be larger now. Adjusting the in-game resolution after changing the Windows resolution also seems to have no effect. It's like the game is fixed on running it in full HD resolution, regardless of the resolution in Windows or in-game. Changing the Windows DPI back to 100% didn't help either. I also reinstalled my graphics drivers and the complete game, all to no effect.

My Problem was that I could not apply my desktop resolution (1280x1024). The max. available Ingame-resolution was 1024x768.
I fixed that issue with the following steps:

1. Change your resolution to the highest which is available and swich to "Window mode"
2. After doing that. Hit the "Apply" button.
3. Then press "Alt+Enter" to swich back to the fullscreen mode.

The ingame-resolution has automaticly adjusted to my desktop resolution (1280x1024).
Hope that'll work for you aswell.

This same thing happens to me, on a brand new MSI desktop, almost 6 years later...
