They are costantly growing. Maybe they are all too educated and want to work in a shiny office? But I don't have offices yet :|

You can always look at an abandoned building and see what made them pack up and leave. With industry it's usually because you've overzoned Offices, which take away workforce - or not helped your industry level up to pull in more educated workers.

And no - Industry never becomes obsolete, Johnny.

you have to zone some low rent districts nearby and make sure there are no schools near them

that's exactly wehat happens when you build commercial or office zones they leave their dirty factory jobs to go work in the higher sector. only uneducated cims will stay in factories.

Blade... You've been on the forums for long enough to know that this is a complete lie. You do NOT need to force low income and education districts...

You need to help your industries upgrade so that they can naturally fill educated positions instead of waiting for educated workers to make do with an uneducated position on a factory floor.

Of course overzoning Offices which also takes away educated positions also hurts your industry. It's a big old balancing act.

Put some residental areas near your industrial areas and make sure that they don't have easy access to a university. For best results use high density in small plots so you can get some proper crappy looking tentements to go with your dirty nasty industrial zones. Just make sure to keep them a safe distance from the pollution or they'll get sick. Plop down some basic services like police and clincs so they feel safe and your factories shouldn't complain about a lack of workers. Universities and offices will steal away workers so keep your industrial zones as far away as from them as much as possible. Generally I keep the industrial zones and the dumb people in an uptown area near the highway and the office zones and smart people downtown.

Overeducated workers will work in industrial zones only if there's no better jobs available. When in doubt add more residental zones somewhere even if demand is low, people are always willing to move in.

i've tried this and no matter what the same thing always happens soon as better jobs become available the smart guys always leave. you need a balance of smart and dumb cims in the game.

Your people are too educated, try having some uneducated workers that live by them.

You're not trying hard enough then - My city is at 140K and growing without any of your issues. Everyone in the city is educated. Industries have their required upgrades and I don't overzone offices.

I don't think I can already upgrade industries (i'm at 7500 citizens), and I have them far away from residential areas (full of schools and now an university). Those people are ungrateful.
(anyway right now I have a worse problem with traffic). Can you upgrade low residential to high residential?

Thinking isn't knowing - You need to actually provide your industry with local services like fire stations and police. As well as a decent land value (parks and monuments) and public transport access (Buses primarily)

No - You can never upgrade one type of zoning into another. Pause the game, dezone, rezone.

I meant I didn't know if I could (I miss a verb). There are fire and police stations, but maybe it's just that I have a huge problem of traffic and they simply don't get the stuff they need (at the moment my oil plant is out of gas).

Level 3 industry use educated workers found this out via youtube.

I'd plop a cargo train nearby (if one isn't already there) and fix that road network. Getting raw materials and shipping out the product is the No. 1 requirement of any industry. Then, give them lots of services and give them time to upgrade. I've got more industrial zones than ever--and a smarter populace than ever--but I seldom see the gripes about over-educated workers, anymore.

There are a lot of trucks there, and the red road on the left leads to the industrial zone.
