How do you build your city entrance?
I am a bit OCD with tiles and 90 degree angles. So I actually spend more time setting up the first blocks of road rather than buildig the city. I think that what I am doing might not be the best solution. So... how do YOU build your city entrance and make a good transition between a highway and smaller roads?

roundabouts, there are some great high capacity ones on the workshop

I spend a lot of time setting up my first roads to 90 degrees too. I think cities look best with a combination of grids and irregular streets so you have to set up that grid correctly from the start.

basically built my city in rectangles as I dont like curved roads plus i am also OCD making sure my intersection line up. I am basically a block city builder here is my city entrance. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=412927514

I nearly went into debt in the beginning because the highway entrance on my map didnt line up correctly so I was constantly deleting and re applying roads to get the highway straight.

Nice city. Far better than mine!

I did basically nothing for the longest time.
After I hit 100K I finally got around to making a skinny little highway to dump the trucks closer to the industrial areas.

Yea lol that's how I am, though I am only at 15k I have yet to touch the entrance other than adding another off ramp closer to my industry zones as it did pile up and turn red after 7500. I am not sure what I will do once I need to fix it better, so thanks for the examples I will probably use one lol :).

Hi, sorry I'm really late into this discussion. Really late indeed. I like 90-degree roads as well. My OCD won't like anything other than straight roads. I actually stopped playing city skylines because I couldn't make my roads straight. I lost interest but I'm hoping to come back and start playing it again. Does anyone have any tips or mods to make your roads straight? What I mean is, is there anything that can make my city straight? Anything will help. Thx and sorry. bye

Old thread!

Simple solution is to learn how to use the terraforming tools ((the match height one specifically) - roads will be perfectly straight if the ground is flat.

Thx so much, ill try that. I'll see how that goes.

"City entrances"? What is that?

81 tiles user, all tiles immediately unlocked at the start and standard highway interchanges apply.

Actually, you do not even need highways when using that mod and the Unlimited Outside Connections mod.

Sorry, don't understand.

Oh, I was talking specifically about the OP and the thread itself.

Your post seems to be different from the one originally posted.

By straight, you mean parallel to each other, or relative to ground level?
