Trucks ignoring heavy traffic ban
I've given them other routes around, but they still take the shortest route which goes through my heavy traffic ban

Make sure you are not mistaking large delivery vehicles for 'heavy traffic'. Local delivery vehicles (vans, trucks) will still use them.

They're ore trucks, semi-trailers, they go to the industry

It worked for me last time i tried. I guess you have given it time? Can take few minutes before they start going a new route since route/pathfinding is set when they first start driving.

Same thing is going on in my city. I added a new offramp from the freeway and wasn't happy that the heavy traffic decided to shuttle through that neighborhood, so I made it a ban zone... but they ignore it.

It definitely doesn't affect instantly. The pre-planned routes made before the ban will be finished. It only affects new routes created after the ban is in place. Hopefully the issue is figured out for you though. I do not have any issues so far.

it's been at least an hour and a bit, they have a dedicated long route that will take them to the highway going either way but go through my banned neighbourhood instead

That is odd... Makes me wonder if the last patch changed something.
Another wild guess is that they for some reason are not getting exactly where they need to go with any other routes and that maybe they ignore the ban if that is the case..

They head to the highway, but i have a longer route round that connects to the same highway, which is what they are meant to use since they're banned from the direct route

Does the connection you want them to use go in all directions?
Aligned Manatee Mar 21, 2015 @ 9:22pm
It does yes, just seperately for now, they can go straight on along the long road, and join the highway out of the city limits, or turn right and connect to the highway going the opposite direction, i made sure the right turn was the correct way and it's properly connected to the highway going the opposite way

I have the same problem. I made a big fat six lanes road for the heavy traffic to the industrial zone but they keep passing though the districts with the ban.

Oh man you're so funny.

make sure you're not using highway , highway ramps and/or 6lane roads, as traffic ban doesnt apply to them (not 100% sure about 6lane roads)

Oh, that's the problem then, thanks.
