Water treatment plants usage?
I did a search, but the general consensus is that they are useless in this game so far...?

In SimCIty 4 they had a huge impact on ground water pollution, but they could be built anywhere, and not only on the shoreline like in this game.

I've built several, but they don't seem to affect the pollution emerging from the water drain pipes.

Am I missing something, or are they actually currently useless? I've built them next to the drain pipes and connected them, one for each pipe.

they pollute water much less and their draining capacity is bigger

Mine emit about 20% (As their description says) of the water pollution that straight drain pipes do. They also process 33% more waste (160k instead of 120k I think) but I don't remember what their cost/week is in comparison.

I replaced all my drain pipes with em for the pollution alone. Yours sound bugged. Try relocating or rebuilding to see if they start to have proper effect?

If you're still keeping a drain pipe around with a water treatment plant, I'm pretty sure the animation for the pipes will stay the same. So it will still look like it's dumping ♥♥♥♥ into your river.

Just delete the drain pipes and replace them with treatment plants. Enough plants to bring your sewage treatment into the green. You don't need both. The point of them is to "go green" by spending a bit more money

Thanks guys. I had these misunderstood, and wasn't aware they they could completely replace the drain pipes. Everything is clear now... :)

There's no real point to them as far as I can tell - Since water pollution only affects water pumps. And since the water is still polluted you wouldn't want to pump that up regardless.

Maybe it affects the land value somewhat? *shrug*

Question, does water treatment go down stream from sewage pipes or up stream before sewage. I put my aftef the sewage pipes. Sewage is flowing down stream to water treatment. Is this right ?

no, the water treatment replaces the sewage pipes.

They are a bit useless because as you expand you can always move your collection of water pumps even further away from the polluted water that drain pipes produce. I just use them so I don't have to look at all that brown water that a regular drain pipe produces. In a huge city you can expect the majority of the water near you to be completely brown. Just ugly to look at IMO.

I always build them for the hell of it, but they cost more, they need more energy, they still pollute the water and take up more space compared to normal drain pipes. So, what is water treatment good for exactly?

build a damn just downstream of your poop outlets and it'll stop it heading down stream and keep it contained
