Can you build your own buildings in this game?
Can you? Looking at the images on the store page doesn't show much of what is actually in the game. On one of the images, it looks like a building editor. What is that exactly? What can you do with it? How much freedom do you have in the editor?

Thanks in advance. :)

you can use custom models, textures, add accesories, modify properties (like cost, upkeep, etc)

not all is in the editor though, i think.

I assume those can then be put in your own cities?

EDIT: My cousin has a student trial of 3D's Max, could that be used to import buildings? Or do you need to use Sing Blender only?

You can use 3ds Max to create them, if you read the asset editor section of the Wiki, in the import section you'll see the settings and some tips on how to do it. http://www.skylineswiki.com/Asset_Editor

and yes you can put any buildings you make into the game.

Cool, thanks.

Okay, cool. I am thinking of gifting this to my cousin as b-day present, he likes city building games and he doesn't have this one yet. Just thought I'd ask to see if you can do custom stuff, as he has done a few of his own creations, particularly in Sim City 4 and 3000.

Oh, and I meant that HE has a student version of 3D's Max, not me. Whoops, typo. I edited it above.

the developers are very big on providing tools for modding.
he can do much more than just change the looks of things. not quite sure what the requirments for modding actual game mechanics and stuff are.(not as easy as custom buildings) custom code is/will be supported which means programming skills might be nice.

So outside of a 3D's Max environment, how much can you do with the in-game editor?

true, just saying because depending on his skillset that could be another pro.

i haven't played around with it alot, so i don't feel confident providing a list. as in, one thats supposed to be complete.

something to keep in mind. the game is still more of a skeleton. atm it is mostly a traffic sim. still possible to build huge and stunning city's though. the other features feel a bit empty, not much challenge besides the traffic.

Eh, that's not so bad. SimCity 2013 was kinda like that. Although, there might have been more micro-management because of the many modular buildings you could add to.
