Cemeteries and Crematoriums not picking up dead people.
When my city reaches a certain size (40k people is usually when it occurs), cemeteries and crematoriums either stop giving a ♥♥♥♥ or simply do not function. With 3/10 hearses in use from one of my cemeteries, they would not pick up a dead person from the office block NEXT DOOR to them. I am running a huge surplus of these buildings now and although there are spare hearses and spare graves/space in the incinerator, dead people are just left to rot. I'm pretty sure this is a bug but I would like to see if others have the issue too.

The problem he describes is something else and I had exactly the same: Crematoriums just did not pick up dead bodies. The number of their transporters in use would flicker around between 0 and 1 of 7... I got rid of the mod: immediately, crematoriums started working, numbers went up to 7/7, dead bodies were picked up and after a few days, the death wave was over

Just dont build too many houses at once and you will never have this problem.

Roads: all good, good trans-city interlinks, good inter-city travel, no backlogs.

BUG: Despite having insane amounts of death care, your cities population of corpses increases anyway. Crematorys/Cemeterys hearses are not all deployed, and the number of deployed jumps 1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2-3-2-3-2-3 etc

SOLUTION: Empty your Cemetery(s) that is/are full. I had 2 full Cemeterys, told them both to empty and the dead literally almost vanished with a minute. (3x speed)

The bug seems to be that as soon as you have a full (multiple) cemetery, your hearses fail to pickup the newly deceased.

Hope this helps.
I wouldn't call it a "bug", but once a cemetery is filled, it has no work to do so its fleet of hearses sit idle and are taken out of the network. I'd call this a "limitation", that a building's service vehicles are locked to that building and not to the service overall.

I'd really hate to have to build so many crematoriums. I guess the key is not having a single section of road "red" in the traffic overlay. I have a couple of bad spots and I think that's whats keeping my population stuck at 50k (and lots of death icons)

They key is green roads everywhere. Even overlap a little. space your crematoriums out evenly and just don't clump them up. not even 2 of them.

Yes, you will need a lot, just like all other services in the game.

As for traffic overlap map, it is fine to have some red, just not backed up traffic. But do keep an eye on red areas that are old and mature. New areas will be red until they fully mature from demands changing from buildings leveling up.

I am having a death problem in my city as well, the population is 50,000 people and dropping and i don't have any cemeteries in my city, just a load of crematoriums.
(note: i have multiple housing areas in my city and only 2 are affected)

i think that a possible solution is editing the game so people don't die, i am only losing money and people and my city is falling apart. 50,000 to 47,000 and i had 5,000,000 and now i am -1,857

Hospitals and ambulances care for the sick, not the dead.

I think that what they're doing is that they dispatch with a pre-planned route in mind. That is, they wait until there's ten bodies to pick up, and then dispatches.

This would also explain why they wind up ranging all over the place - because it's a first come first serve system that doesn't care where the corpses are in relation to a given hearse's home base.

I have had this exact problem quite a few times. Run a broken node detector. 1 broken node somewhere and the whole city stops working. My most recent one was due to a broken node within a pathway network...
