My solution? Remove all of my Water Pumps and replace them with Water Towers (making sure not to place the Towers on polluted land of course). Once I did that the current slowly righted itself and returned to flowing downstream. No more sick people.
tl;dr: Consider replacing all of your Water Pumps with Water Towers because the current can change.
you could have buildt a dam inbetween.
But you also have to add that citizens will get sick from the pollution your industry or buildings cause when you place them next to residential (use the pollution overlay to check that).
And your citizens get also sick if there is too much noise at their house(use the noise pollution overlay to check that).
And your citizens get sick if there are no or not enough medical facilities or the ambulances cant get fast enough to the buildings because of traffic.
I built a Dam to make a road...wanted something that looked good instead of another boring bridge. Had no use for the power at the time =p
There was no dam. I watched how the flow changed back to normal again once I removed the pumps. They definitely do have an effect on the water flow.
