For anyone using Intel HD integrated graphics, I can confirm it does work but it isn't very smooth,

I ran it on a Surface Pro 3 i7 with Intel HD 5000 graphics and 8GB RAM.
The experience isn't that good even with everything set at low settings and 1376 x 768
It is playable but as you progress you can feel it slowing down.

If this is all you have to play the game with, I'd recommend upgrading.

Curently I can't have a big city (but it works) ATM I have 27.000 POP (FPS losses at fast foreward speed)

I would say that your GPU is overheating (most likely) OR you need to update your GPU Drivers, so you get those lovely retro graphic. Sorry mate but you will have to get a new one (most likely).

Firstly, thank you very much for the detailed explanation... by far, it was the most anyone has ever written to me on any forum! :)
I found it really interesting and thorough, so kudos to you and thanks again!

I believe we were talking about different moments, that was the cause of my confusion - I was thinking about the first three quarters of the game (where I considered most players will spend the majority of time), and you were thinking about the late(r) game.
I couldn't believe it could actually take up the ammount of RAM you were describing though, and I was wrong... hats off to you, sir! :)

You were much, much closer to the mark than I - for anyone interested, on my machine Cities: Skylines takes up ~2.3 GB RAM at the beginning, and a city of ~20 K was eating up about 2.7 GB. So, NemesisZidar really knew what he was talking about... :)

I don't know how much higher RAM use will go, but keep that in mind. A 20 K city is quite large though, so I can't even imagine how a 1 M one will look (or run). :)

Re. Cities XL - I haven't played it either, but from what I understood, it didn't even have support for multiple cores (I may be wrong about this), and the XXL "new game" was basically a glorified performance patch.

My first post and subsequent "guesstimations" were flat-out wrong, so I apologize for any confusion or misleading statements made (I did say that they're just assumptions, though :beatmeat: ).

No problem, thats what discussing is about. It was guessing work anyway on how much RAM it might use. Im just used to that due to playing alot of RTS Games and i had many problems with these running smooth in the past so i had to find out what to upgrade on my hardware to get them running.

-I guess you are right by the Cities XL and XXL topic. I heard the same (reading reviews and forum and stuff). Maybe there was also a memory leak involved but i dont know for sure.

-about the length of my post, thats by far not the longest. I have seen posts about 3 times that large xD. Have fun with the game. Im quite entertained by it although i miss alot that was already in SimCity 4 and i miss the prison. Also i think the garbage area looks bad due to textures. I would prefer it the way it was in SimCity 4. But hey they cant just copy it right? And they will add stuff.

-at the moment Skylines runs fine for me on maxed settings although i dont meet the recommended. Im quite exactly in the middle of minimum and recommended (and 8GB RAM).
My actual largest city has about 20k people and it still runs fine, so people, never go for system requirements lab. Its a dumb page without any real use and after using it you have as much information you had before.

Hey, I have the same graphic card, it showed me I cant run it, but I bought it anyway (because I plan upgrade in near future). And I CAN play it. :) Of course you will need to switch nVidia settings (see another thread).

High level of detail = 15 FPS,
Medium = 25 FPS,
Low = 30 FPS.
I have very small city now, so it will be probably worse, but even at 20 FPS it is playable since it's not fast action game. :)

Well consider your graphic card being very old by now, by 7 years. With only 1gb dedicated video ram its not going to run smooth. Might also cause errors and such when you don't hvae pixel version 5.0 As for CPU I don't know much about AMD.

For you I would suggest upgrading the graphic card.

What FPS do you get if you don't mind me asking and are there graphica options? if so I am one who doesn't mind sacrificing the pretty looks for a better frame rate, and thanks for replying!
