Traffic Jams in a single line!?!

This is more an exclamation than a question.

The traffic definitely needs some major work because even though i provide a nice 6 lane one way road, all of the traffic basically backs up in one long line. WTF!!?

Otherwise great game that has kept me hooked for over 40 hours (and still going!)

Because they all want to go the same way, they use different lanes to go to different directions.
If you have a look from the eyes of a motorist to see who wants to go from where to where you may be able to come up with some more efficient road layouts.

This wouldn't be a problem if we could assign the lanes.

I do wish we could assign "no left/right turns" at some intersections, would solve so many issues. Hopefully in a future patch or DLC.

Remove or rework the issue that's causing them to stop instead of merging.

Most backups are caused by traffic lights.

the more turns and intersetions you have the worse traffic gets. try to make 1 big long 1 way 6 lane road going directly through your city and connecting to the highway. and than build roads off that. also always use 6 lane or more roads in industrial areas.

I did do that. I have already fixed many problems like that but the point is that they still stack up in a single line.

I literally sit there and watch traffic for over an hour and restart many times but it's not the traffic lights. Even on highways the merge lanes are causing the traffic to slow down or stop.

We need to be able to set the lanes, Often at a one way intersection, being able to set 4 lanes right for instance would totally fix my problems. I also think they are trying to get into lane too soon, I see traffic backed up through multiple intersections cos they're trying to get onto the correct side of the road 5 turns early...
