I want to cry. Froze when trying to save.

Played for HOURS and then try to save, froze. I hate this.

Both F1 saving and normal saving will freeze for me sometimes. It is the thumbnail creation phase that is freezing. When it works it is acting funny, the whole display turning upside down and then correct again, about 1 sec. But when not working, freeze. Only way is to end the program in task manager. I hate this!!

But also my own fault, I should save more often, even if it freezes sometimes.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. On random occurances when i save, the whole screen will flip upside down and freeze. Have you been able to find any help on this?

You should definitely consider investing in the "Autosave" mod for now, Helena. At least you'll have a crutch to lean on if the game freezes again.

Heh. SimCity4 has conditioned me to save after every change.

Mansen, I suspect it will fail just as the other saves, because I assume it use the normal saving, with the screenshot? It is the screenshot taking stage that freezes sometimes.

It is not the game itself that will freeze, has never happened so far. It is in the "I have now hit F1" or "I have clicked save" that the game will sometimes freeze right there.

It is not so fun. Every time I hit F1 I pray it will go through! haha

But nontheless I need to save more often. Because it is better to recreate the last 15 minutes than the last 2-3 hours!

dreasychair, interesting, you have similar problem to me. Do your graphic card meet the minumum? Mine is just below the minimum, having 256 mb of memory only. So that's why I know I should not complain. But if your setup is meeting minimum or recommended then it might be a bug needing to report! My graphic card is Geforce 8800 GTS (256 mb) if it helps to the bug fix.. (if the developers ever read this).. But I suspect it is my "below the minumum".

Other than this bug I do not have problems with playing the game even with this "below the minimum", I have shut down many of the graphics settings, basically running it plain.

The interesting thing, though, compared with you, dreasychair, is that for me when the screen flips upside down, it is a sign that it works, for me! If nothing happens and it freeze I know it is bad, and has to be shut down from task manager. But when it flips upside down I let out a sigh of relief. ;) But I guess I have to wait until it has been actually saved first. ;) In case my game start to do like yours, and flip first and then freeze!
Sometimes it will go all black too.

I have by the way updated the graphic card drivers in yesterday in hope to fix this problem, but nope.

What are the rest of your computer specifications? RAM, CPU, etc.? I am running on a laptop with a bad graphics card but good processor and RAM, game is a bit slow but saving works fine, get the upside-down bug but it works, though loading seems to cause some sort of slowdown.

My computer (stationary) is old (gamewise but still fine for other stuff), but it meets minimum on the other parts, about in the middle between minimum and recommended. I did max the motherboard on the RAM last year so I have 8GB.
As for cpu I have intel core 2 quad at 2.4 GHz.

Do what Mansen said. Get the Autosave add-on. It does an autosave every 10 minutes.

I added the autosave and the first time it tried to save, the game froze. haha.

For me mostly often it will go successful if I do not click click in hurry, but let the game "rest" for a couple of sec to "settle" things. Same thing with the F1. Won't always work but better.
